I was born in America and my ancestors arrived in 1642, My ancestors were in the war of independence of 1776 and the Civil War.
I'm a US Navy veteran, resident of Marion County, Oregon since I was a child, yet I was born in Sacramento, California.
I owned a small trucking business but could not make any money, only expenses.
I was against this cross boarder long haul program and never supported NAFTA.
My feelings like others mean nothing up against the ruling class of America.
If Tea Parties don't become a powerful voice for the people, then the Republic will fade away.
In the end, I will loose interest in crying for a nation who's people are selling there liberties and freedoms for temporary safety.
All I can do is hope and pray there are enough people in the US who can see the painting on the wall, while I watch the destruction of the constitution, and America politicians leaning toward socialism itself the corner stone for communism. -
I predict that NAFTA will cost those who supported it more than votes.....
I don't wish any ill on anyone....not even the politicians or their families.....
But I WCP, predict that a major collision between a NAFTA truck and a politician or their family will occur.....
And...despite the threats of tariffs and the accusations of so called "racism".....congress will ultimately grow a set and nullify NAFTA....
Look...America had to have Obama and his attempt to make America like Cuba to wake us up.....
NAFTA is another wake-up call for Americans.....Last edited: Mar 1, 2010

Hmmm..."De ja vu all over again"....
-
BTW... I challenge the supporters of Mexican trucks in the US to disprove Johnston's claims about Mexican trucking regulations...or the lack thereof.....
Like I said....NAFTA will go through...but it will take a catastrophe (and it will happen) to end it......
Some people just have to walk through a fire to prove to themselves fire is HOT!!!!
I hope you supporters of NAFTA have plenty of ice water....you all are going to need it.... -
They have been misproved time and time again. In the CVSA statistics, the USDOT OIG reports and on my site
Everyday when I turn on XM171 in the morning and throughout the day, and hardly a day goes by we don't hear of a major truck accident somewhere in the US, and on the other side, going weeks or months without seeing something similar in Mexico, also proves the safety of these trucks and their drivers.
The proof is out there folks, except for those with a myopic view of the issue -
Let's see the proof in writing.....
Everyday there is a major truck accident in the US??
Please do show us.....
Look...We all know NAFTA is going to get through...
Those of us up here who have to play by the rules...want to see you guys down there play by our rules as well...Fair is fair...
Why lower the bar...why not raise it so that we all can run for higher rates; run safely; run effectively? -
Trucks in the program were caught hauling drugs, fill up there tanks in Mexico, are reportedly violating safety violations and these issues as well as others must be reviewed by congress.
Bottom line, if Mexico rules of engagement were equal, there trucks operating in the U.S. would still as in the past, lessen American truck driving jobs or independent truckers or small businesses loads, yet hiring Mexican Americans to some degree to drive US/Mexican owned trucking companies trucks would be a novel idea, but to the extent that would make a difference is not clear.
I'd like to see more GPS tracking monitored by the MC and fuel standards adhered tom the rest will be decided upon review of individual trucking companies and the cost to U.S. trucking industry, while these days with a slowing world wide economy fewer loads will cause more strife and competition most likely resulting in less miles per load.
But then U.S. trucking businesses, independent trucker drivers and business and company drivers already know about those days of ninety nine cent per mile brokered loads.
