Why yes, I have considered the wisdom of @REO6205, and you'll be glad in knowing now that I am too lazy to look for another job at ze moment.
It's that the company sprung this crap on my Friday with no notice, and that chaps my hide.
But know this, my day is not ruined. My mood has not soured. I shall not become bitter.
Why?
Because I am parked at the Pilot in Fernley, Nevada and I am going to treat myself to a chocolate cone from DQ.
Lastly, I request one favor from you. Please don't post any more photos of that red International or any other.
Post only photos of Peterbilt 579's.
Thank you.
Company wants me to take a pay decrease

If anyone deserves a monday morning choco cone , its you.
I think your approach of staying calm and seeing what exactly is going to unfold , is the correct one.
Let everyone else have the monday freakout while you enjoy a well earned treat.Last edited: May 1, 2023

I keep my ears attuned to the beat of the market, and this is not the only place cutting wages. I have seen numerous threads on various forms of social media citing the same thing, pay cuts. Can't keep paying 70 cpm when the truck is barely making $1.10.
I can see the allure of driving somewhere offering big money when times are good. The only problem is that markets are ever-cycling, and when the inevitable drop occurs, those places will have to cut pay or go under. Meanwhile, contract carriers that have been paying a fair wage continue to pay the same fair wage as their rates see minimal change over time. So everyone then tries to jump into a contract carrier's truck, but the seats remain limited. For example, we currently have 8 empty trucks. 5 are down awaiting parts on backorder (drivers moved to other trucks from the part-time fleet). One is cleaned and ready for a new driver. That leaves TWO trucks for our 17 part-time drivers to share. Needless to say, they aren't getting a lot of work right now, and until more parts come in, that will likely trend downward further as I am authorized to put full-time hires into any PT fleet truck, further reducing their available options.bryan21384, JoeyJunk, runningman0661 and 2 others Thank this. -
Not to mention most fleets do the minimum maintenance to barely keep warranty. Trucks are money pits after 3 years.JoeyJunk Thanks this.

I will try to comply with your wishes. It was quite difficult finding a photo of an unmarked truck with the driver inside the truck.
God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!
The absolute sheer driving force of our national economy - without truck drivers, our entire national economy would come to an absolute standstill - if not outright be dead.

Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, every night, all year round.JoeyJunk, Flat Earth Trucker and The Crossword Trucker Thank this. -
FedEx just announced they are closing 6 centers, UPS is laying people off, cheap freight is getting cheaper. Also, I noticed people are getting fired for ridiculous reasons. Haven’t seen so many bad news since I joined this forum.

Is UPS laying off full timers or their temporary help? If so, where?

I'm telling y'all...again...these brokers are the cause and best be dealt with.
Example: today I picked up a load paying us $1000. It was pulling teeth to get that up from $800. Mattresses, full load, less than 9K lbs, going 555 miles. While signing paper, I saw the actual charge. $1800 for the truck. Asked the lady if I was reading the paper right. I was. That's what they're paying. F that! Ruined my day. Freight and rates are fine. The parasites are killing itdrvrtech77, tlalokay and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this.
