Some 2nd chance companies will hire you. Not just dump trucks either. Also tractor-trailer companies.
How many months have you been driving?

    Straight talk, friend…

I would like to see you become extremely successful. The way that you do that is to become good at what you do. That means more than just being able to drive. The LAW require you the driver to do your inspection of any vehicle that you drive and to be able to do this. I’m not saying that you can’t. I am saying that you shouldn’t easily be able to get busted and put OOS in a level one inspection. That stuff can hurt you. Several OOS can ruin your career.

So, at the very least, once a week, climb under the truck and check things out. Do your air leak down checks. Tires, suspension, wheel seals, air hoses. Did you know that a bad tire will get you more points than vehicular manslaughter? C.Y.A!

    Luck in battle, friend.

Your opinion about what the insurance company says about you or the decision a trucking company makes about your application is not important. The consequences of bad driving or driving vehicles with defects follow you, as you are finding out, whether you agree with them or not.

Get a copy of your PSP Report. It costs $10 and it will show you what is in your record. It shows any violations found on the vehicles you drove, during the last 3 years plus any crashes you were involved in for the last 5 years. Pre-Employment Screening Program

I already got it I know what’s on my record and I know the things I need to improve on but clearly only like two warnings was really my fault

Having a CDL means when you drive a vehicle with a fault that could have been detected before you drove it you are volunteering to be penalized. The WHY you did something doesn't matter. I got 2 dings on my PSP record that I didn't think were going to follow me. They stay with you regardless of why or who was involved in you driving a commercial vehicle with a defect that was found in an inspection. Like you, I didn't get a ticket and never had to pay a fine. I drove 3 million accident free miles in 28 years and retired from trucking before I learned what i thought were warning tickets actually are the only marks against my perfect driving record. Driving safely isn't the only requirement of using a CDL. Thoroughly inspecting the truck and trailer before driving is also important. An old driver once told me "Drive/work like your boss and a cop are sitting in the passenger seat". If you wouldn't do something with both of them watching you, then don't do it." Always assume whatever you are doing will be found out by the person you don't want to know about it. It's not easy. You can find plenty of driving jobs with your record but each added violation on your PSP, plus every ticket, and the more shady employers you work for are each just making it more likely something bad will happen to you. Make choices like the consequences are important. It's one reason to know about a company before choosing to work for them. If they don't maintain their equipment it's going to hurt you eventually.

Hotshots are really the low-end of the business, and driving dumptruck is absolute rock-bottom. Set your sights higher. Maybe you'll need to drive team with an experienced driver for a couple of months, but it's got to be better than driving a dumptruck.....

How is driving a dump truck rock bottom, or is that just a play on words? I see what you did there…..but seriously there’s absolutely nothing wrong with dump truck work, depending on where he’s at it probably pays well, and way less the hassle of navigating a tractor trailer in and out of town. Have you ever seen some of the sweet tri axles up in the northeast, I’d like to see you tell those guys they’re bottom of the barrel. To the OP, good luck on the new gig and enjoy it once you get it, don’t let the naysayers get you down.
