his DM clearly said do not separate the units. he claimed he was going to.
yours was an emergency, his was not.
of course, the line(s) of communication should always be respected, instead of doing as one pleases.

Well it would of course be your call. I also live in a small town, but I also have enough property to park by my house...good luck.farmerjohn64 Thanks this.

Funny they were talking about kingpin locks, I towed a impound for a local tow company that had a lock on the kingpin, never touched, did for a second keep a towtruck for grabbing the trailer. 2 chains to the under reach and away you go. Not typical if your parked legal, they came and got me because some idiot was blocking several driveways and locked the pin and split.

You brought up a very good point about just how good a lock is. I also have heard most towing companies have workarounds to moving locked trailers. In a related subject, I have seen with my own eyes demonstrations on just how easy it is to disable most locking mechanisms like glad hand and kingpin locks. Things like "the club" and I am not sure what the name of it is, but they make a device that you can use to engage a vehicle brake and makes it hard to move the vehicle. All devices like this can be disabled by someone knowledgeable in a matter of a few seconds. I would not depend on these locks in a high-security setting!farmerjohn64 Thanks this.

well glad hand locks if I have to tow, I just tee into the airlines, The Kingpin lock if you have a HD towtruck, you put your under reach just in front ang below the edge of the trailer, hook your chains the to plate the 5th wheel mounts to then drop them into the hooks on the under-reach, lift the under reach and it all locks in, away you go about 2 minutes work. you may have to tbolt if the brakes wont hold air.farmerjohn64 Thanks this.

Using the wheel chock lock is one of the best ways to lock a trailer, they ensure quick installation and security for unattended RVs and ATVs. Besides that, you may use X-chocks, which are well for RVs that have wheels designed to be close together.
Powder Joints Thanks this.
