When Bulldog took over the property in Alabama ( red dot ) it was a empty lot and building. The building had a lighted Detroit Diesel sign out by the shop doors. Don’t know what happened to it but it disappeared when they took over….

Finally remembered to take that picture.
Left side has my winch bars and pry bar stuffed in the corner left of the door. 8x 10' 3/8 chains with 1 slip hook and 1 grab hook per chain. and 8x 3/8-1/2 ratchet binders on the left side. I try to not pile anything else over there since that's the stuff I use the most.
Center has 20x plastic edge protectors and 20x rubber edge protectors on top shelf. Middle shelf is just a blanket rolled up and some spare hooks laying under it. Don't pack the middle full because I have all the wiring for my lights mounted in there. Bottom has a 20T air jack and about 20 assorted shackles. Also have 2 3"x30ft straps with chain ends down there. 2 more rolled up blankets stuffed into the empty space.
Right side has 4x 10' 3/8 chains with a single grab hook on them. 4x 3/8 adjustable snap binders. 2x 50' 3/8 air hoses. 2x 3" ratchets with chain ends. 1 rolled up blanket on top. The blanket rolled up and sanding sideways has about 200 bungees in it. Keeping them in the blanket keeps them from getting hooked to everything inside the box.
At the very top shoved in there sideways is my 20' height stick.
The blankets are held in by a bungee where needed so I can close the door without have to hold them. That's the only stuff that rubs on the inside.
All my 1/2" chains and 8 more 1/2" binders are kept in my big trailer.
Left side step box has 12x 4" straps and 14x 2" straps/ratchets. Strap winder and temporary 5th wheel ramps as well jammed in there -
Eat’n in, out in the country….

Might sound stupid, but the thing that initially got me wanting to go open deck was the headache rack, the gear and the tarps.
The whole minimalist mindset is appealing to me. -
I agree about the gear but flatbed being minimalist couldn’t be further away from reality for me. In my personal life I’m extremely minimalist. Flat bedding, I have stuff everywhere. If there’s an empty spot, something is filling it. My truck could be on a hoarders episode. I picked up some sweet oak dunnage 2x6 brand new from a shipper and wanted to cry as I left them behind since I had no more space when I delivered.

Eat beef.Flint1, Rugerfan, exhausted379 and 9 others Thank this. -
I once scaled at 80060 lbs at a shipper. It was lumber and I was already tarped and a bad day weather wise. I should have waiting until scaling first before tarping but I was new to flatbed. Ended up getting rid of a few piece of really sweet dunnage that was not under the load instead of hav
