And why is 176 mph a bad thing?
Excessive I'll agree. But impressive at the same time.

What would be so bad about 18 to 20 year olds being able to cross an invisible line on the ground or be involved in interstate commerce?

When I was 18 I worked for a guy around home doing local stuff. He had a deal back then hauling cleaned sunflowers to a bird seed plant. Legally I wasn’t allowed to drive 20 miles away and preload the trailers because the sunflowers were going to Indiana. Current regs seem a little outdated to me.

I would agree. Give the youngsters a little more freedom to make something of them selves. No reason to hold them down, If they can live on there own they should be able to do anything else in my mind.

    JonJon78 Thanks this.

Do we really need more drivers out here keeping wages and rates low? That's why megas want 18 year old drivers. That, and they will put up with a lot more BS that more experienced drivers won't. They want team trucks with 18 year olds criss crossing the country never going home for 2 or 3 months at a time for 30 cents a mile.

Well at least a 18 year old making cheaper wages is better than a 30 year old doing it. Maybe will put enough younger drivers in the market that an older driver with some experience would be worth something instead of the base pay. Might be surprised it could bump pay up since people would start at a younger age.

I don’t think it will happen. Insurance issue for the midsize and smaller firms. Swift on the other hand might be up for the task.

I doubt it will as well, but I am not against it myself.

I don't know about you, but at ages 18-25 I was getting at least two speeding tickets per year
