Check your log,maybe you can edit it if there's an error in your off time.

 

If you leave the app when driving and have a notification pop up when NOT on the app, on the Home Screen it will think it’s going past the 8 hour drive time UNTIL you re open the app and it synchronizes.

It’s a weird tick of the app but it takes about 2-5 seconds for the app to “update” all your times after you open it back up.

 

My ELD did something similar when I was using split-sleeper break. It would show a violation on the screen because it could not see ahead of the current moment while you are driving. All it knew is I started driving before I had 10 hour break. It would eventually correct itself, maybe after I finished the second break period. I don't recall.
