Subject to their situation, and also subject to how you calculate costs.

For example, I'd bet there a lot of owners who underestimate/ignore how much cost per mile can go up as total miles driven go down, or that "parking" a truck that you own is by no means free. Not only are you hemorrhaging money paying for the insurance/plates etc., which is fairly straightforward, but perhaps less obviously the value of your truck is also steadily declining at the same time that the money you have invested in it could theoretically be earning a positive return employed doing something else.

I'm no O/O, currently in-between jobs waiting for my BG check to clear in the DMV's system for my Tank/HM...

How are the fuel hauler O/Os hauling the spot rates? Way better than Van/Reefer/Flatbed?

Vampire, Rideandrepair and Oxbow Thank this.

Nothing really to take back, other than the political intrusion. Income is down for most because there are to many truck drivers, trucks, trailers, and carriers than available freight currently. It’s that simple. No reason to get angry, every one here is at fault. Even I, am adding to the numbers. If you’re sweating about it… do something others don’t want or are unable to do. It’s pretty simple. My last job, I did Bomb disposal. Not many can do it. So it was rewarding. Did it commercially after the military. Now I’m trucking, I focus on what others complain on doing. Some may snub their noses but I got the last laugh on payday.

I’m still hiring at 95k guarantee per year and nobody is beating my door down to drive brand new equipment. I’d say we still have a ways to go before capacity levels with demand.

That amazes me that it is that hard in todays market to fill those spots. I know if I did not own mine I would work for you. Seems a lot of people are also to lazy to look for good jobs as well. prob more the problem then anything.

Plenty of "drivers" applying. Listen to them for a couple of minutes and you drift off to what you'll have for dinner.

Ha Ha I can only imagine. I figured a few good ones should be a lot easier to find these days but most likely already have a job. Thought a few O/O might be looking to find a job since the market has not really turned around for awhile.

First words, lease purchase. Then, OK I'll drive company truck. Translates to I'll drive until I find a LP and disappear.
Leased on. I will drop my authority and lease on and still run spot freight. Sounds like a great plan, do the same thing that you're failing at now.
Leased on. I want to run dedicated runs. But I'll only do two runs and then want a week off. Read the definition of dedicated and get back to me.

My usual "ggod mood" after a holiday. LOL
