There was a very well known Tighta$$ die here a few years ago.. Legend has it, that: He had all his Money in Travelers Cheques..
So He could take It with Him........
You can't put a value on that Kids enjoyment/excitement ...Little things like that make it all worthwhile. .IMHOcke, Coffey, Cattleman84 and 9 others Thank this. -

@wore out it had to have made the day and the haul a lot more enjoyable knowing not only did your professionalism trump the lax attitude of the shipper but it also made a deep impression on the young man. As you said, the days events created a lot of questions to mull over during the trip and afterwards. To me those were the best trips when I had good questions to think about and ponder. Sure seemed to make the time go a little faster.
As for busting it to get to the loading chute on time and then sitting; fortunately, I only ran into that one time where it was a ridiculously long time. I was on the back end of a week long loop and was headed home, I get to my regular fuel stop at Judges truck stop in LA and call in to the boss. He tells me I have to cover a load down near Chipley FL . It’s late and I am tired. Told him I did not think I could make it on time. Boss prodded me and my ego a little bit and I finally agreed to cover it. I run like heck get to the pens about 30 mins before schedule, back to the chute and they tell me it will be awhile.
I proceeded to drop my trailer at the chute and went to town, rented a hotel room and got a shower and then ate breakfast. When I got back to the pens about three hours later there was an upset shipper. He told me they had been ready to load for about 30 minutes and proceeded to try and lecture me. I told him my perspective on the deal and we could load or I could leave and it did not matter to me which he chose. We loaded and that is the last I heard anything about it. The boss never said a word to me about any repercussions.
Now I have been many places where multiple pasture loads were shipping and expected to sit until my time to bump the chute. I could plan for those days and start out fresh so it was no bother. -
@Catmando here is a project truck for you. It has a 1693 and I am sure it would give you hours of joy restoring it.cke, JolliRoger, wore out and 3 others Thank this. -
@Catmando
The auction also has your spare trailer to cover your spare trailer
cke, wore out, Feedman and 1 other person Thank this. -
@pete781693 .. I have bid on a butt load of trailers the last couple.mouths. with no success.I have a set limit on what I can afford and seems the Contending bidders seem to know what it is on each trailer cause them seem to sell just outa my reach ..lol...
I'am afraid I don't need another project truck right now .. I'am not making the prigress I need to on Ruby .. I got the gear box out and the motor is completely ready to lift out but haven't had a extra set of hands around this week to help lift it out.. its gona take some massaging to get it out because the firewall is for a cummins not a cat so it's tucked in there tight ..Last edited by a moderator: Jun 2, 2023
