Seen a load yesterday. Portage, IN 2 North Dakota. Flatbed. 960 miles. Broker has at $2800. As I'm watching all day, she rises to $2900 then $3000 at 2pm... I call offer my discount $3800... She claims to be losing $800....

Well, I'm in a good mood my final offer is $3600 even though I'm selling myself short. Now she gotta put me on hold to check with boss... I Tell her inform boss my offer is non negotiable. Take or leave.... 1 minute later she comes back says yes boss ( that she never called ) says yes. I'm not stupid... 100% she called nobody...

So rate con comes in, loading at Ratner steel Portage, IN.... I quick check reviews of shipper, HORRIBLE. Normally I cancel load, I'm in good mood so proceed.

Arrive at shipper, reviews don't disappoint. Trucks lined up through whole driveway and street. After 30 minutes check-in miss attitude behind glass tells me, "Jon you need to call your broker I emailed her last week saying load is canceled 4 today" :p

LMFAO.... I wasn't mad at all. Even though the TONU only pay $150 it's better than making $0 when I leave anyhow... Which I was gonna... She did me favor....

Now broker is playing stupid offering Minnesota loads... Uh no... I'm not feeling this fast one.

I held me tongue, fixing to let her know I was leaving anyhow when I seen line down the street, even though your $150 TONU ain't doing nothing but buying happy meal tonight anyhow...

I've been at this point but more now then ever, I pull up to be loaded and if the shipper isn't ready upon my arrival, with 1 hour or so... I'm leaving, and I have no shame calling the arrogant broker and letting them know, I'm bouncing....

Move it or lose it with me. Wanna nickel and dime the trucker, better get your shipper on the same mindset. Time is money honey. They can keep the detention talk, I'm not hearing it, nor do I want any part of it.

To many truckers will sit all day and night claiming "that's trucking" HELL NO!!!!

And that's why the shipper thinks it's OK.

    Suck a FAT one... :)

Two weeks ago, my favorite agent calls ( I'm leased on ) Savanah, GA delivery. I tell him, stop short, I don't go there. After persuasion and money bribing, I give. Meanwhile trailer lights is not working... Check everything, no luck... OK I gotta get back to Indiana for repairs. Only load available to my destination is by TMC, loading Monday. I accept and lay over. Knew it was a bad decision, shipper is Geradu steel in Cartersville, GA. Show up Monday bright and early. Clocks ticking... I'm sitting 5 hours. Finally decided enough is enough I'm bouncing home empty. 4 hours later, ring ring, they calling informing me it's my time to pull around....I'm long gone,

Half way home already. They got no consideration or care.

Had a bad experience with Geradu in Jackson Michigan where I had them unload my truck... I didn't learn my lesson.

Needless to say, gotta put the foot down.

I had a similar experience this week. I'm at a notorious bad shipper, which I know and have been too before. I knew what I'm getting myself into as they normal take 4-5 hours to load. Well broker, which I have used before and have a good relationship with (supposedly), told me product would be ready at 6AM. We roll in there at 9:30AM and was told product wouldn't be ready until 6PM. I started looking for another load but being Memorial Day there wasn't squat so we dropped our trailer as they said they would load it on the night shift.

Well you know what happened yet, I checked and at 5:30AM next morning and the trailer was sitting in the same spot and empty. I proceeded to email the broker at 5:30AM notifying them and no response. Then at 7:50AM I told them we were bouncing and to send me a TONU. At 8:30AM they e-mailed me back and said I wouldn't be compensated for anything if we bounced. Total BS and it was funny b/c the account manager was acting like a lawyer detailing why per the agreement, no compensation was due. She never grasped that I agreed to pick-up the load on 5/29 not 5/30 and because of this it voided the original agreement and compensation was due. I just chalked it up as a loss and will never use that broker again. It happens but hadn't been that fired-up in a long time. Oh and out of curiosity I called the shipper and at 10AM the product wasn't ready and they said it would be 12PM, so 30 hours after what the original ready time the broker said.

I had a load with a saturday unload in northern Ohio and I had a monday morning pickup near Indy so just for fun I checked the board. There was a load not far away going to South Bend or Ft Wayne - somewhere in northern Indiana that unloaded monday morning early am. Would have left me a 2 hour window to unload, which under normal circumstances would be plenty of time. So I said sure I can do that.

Then I get the load info. I call the broker back and say "nope nope nope, cant do this". But you agreed to it he cries. That was before I kneww it was going to Super Valu. No way they are going to get me off in 2 hours. Oh, I will make sure they know you have to be out of there timely. So I dead headed to Indy.

They're one of the worst run receivers anywhere. Every one of them no matter what part of the country. You did the right thing. These brokers act like it's your integrity in question when their LIE by omission of neglecting to tell you it's going to that hell hole because they know nobody willingly books a load to there.

I have no problem telling them to F off as well. I will do the same thing unless I have no where to go and dont care at the moment, hardly ever happens. I know most the places like that around my area and charge for the wait time plus the detention to even think about picking those loads up. Only got a few of them but they paid almost double the rate they tried to do.

File on the bond for something like that. I would do so even if I thought I would not have a chance to win. Hell at least waste some of there own time for wasting that weekend.
