That was not long ago. 60 something thousand meant that things were going terribly wrong with your friend - for whatever reason.

    @dogtrucker --

If I may ask....earlier you mentioned a terminal in Florida (but you haven't been there).....where in FL is this terminal?

Not much, you have basically said several times without directly saying that you want some recruiting bonus......

If I had been a good little saver all my life, I would be retired and devoted to my hobbies. I was not so responsible and still need to earn. That is why I aimed at a higher responsibility job with greater earning potential. I presume there are others who would like to make a lot more money and I know there are others who want to be treated like the professionals they are (if they are in fact, professionals ... a big "IF"). To that end, I share what I know and what I am achieving. That is very much within the purpose of this site. And IMO, my achievements are rather humble; those who are very ambitious and mature are making themselves wealthy in trucking - I am not that good and may never be. But $120-$140k is a reasonable goal for just about any of us, and to be part of a functional team and to fit ourselves in well with all the necessary social skills - dependability, attentiveness, courtesy, industriousness, assertiveness, etc which add up to what we call "maturity" or "good character" ..these are goals within the main stream or middle-lane that any of us can achieve though most do not.

Some people just want to complain and drag others down. Social media has amplified the worst in us and among us - that is not a controversial statement. There is no avoiding the hostility, suspicion, dishonesty and toxic egos, wherever we go. So, I practice patience and politeness.
It is incredible that there are drivers who have worked for years and yet know so little about the industry they are in; who think (or want to believe) that everyone else is as miserable, as disrespected as they feel and as little paid as they are. They would improve their situations if they wanted to; they do not want to, not really; I would ask why. I have asked myself, why - I am not above any of this, I am just trying to face it and deal with what is lacking in myself.

I did not post anything particularly impressive, yet some negative personalities want to believe anything good or positive is a lie. The proof of their insincerity is none ask for evidence - easily provided - because that would end their sick game. I would respond to any sincere request, worded with openness and reasonable, grown up language. But I would not so respond to hostile personalities because their "request" is dishonest - they would claim photo-shop or some such, to keep the game going.

We all have some of this ego sickness in us - it is the human-effing-condition; their are those who reflect and improve themselves and those who wallow in it - that is the only difference. So, no, I am not lying. And, yes, if I went to some trouble to inform someone - I would DM, give them my phone nbr, talk at length - I would very much like to collect whatever money (I dont even know what it is) for a referral - because I earned it. There is nothing unreasonable or dishonest in that. In 11 years, I have never referred a driver because - until now - I could not say in good faith, "This is a superior company; I am, over all, very pleased with them". Now I can say that so yeah, for the first time in 11 years, I would be willing to refer someone who persuaded me they are themselves worth it. I care about my professional reputation and would not refer a person whom I suspected would reflect negatively on my judgment.

That is about the best I can (or should) do to give you some perspective. I hope my words make sense to you. I want to get along with everyone - I really do.

I might be mistaken about that - it is something I thought I heard but I do not see it mentioned.
Here are their current terminal locations: (additionally, they are building a new terminal in Lexington KY - for a 650 truck company, they have a lot of locations)

    Rushville Terminal
    1920 South State Road 3
    Rushville, IN 46173

    Knoxville Terminal
    7250 Saddlerack St.
    Knoxville, TN 37914

    Brilliant Terminal
    708 Dan Dee Lane
    Brilliant, OH 43913

    Orangeburg Terminal
    1525 Charleston Highway
    Orangeburg, SC 29115

    Muscle Shoals Terminal
    5250 E 2nd St
    Muscle Shoals, AL 35661

    Fishers Terminal
    122 Shadowlawn Drive
    Fishers, IN 46038

    Ghent, KY
    6870 US-42
    Ghent, KY 41045

    Pine Bluff, AR
    4600 Paper Mill Road
    Pine Bluff, AR 71601

It never hurts to call and ask, you aren't on the hook for anything.
My experience with recruiting was quite good, except that they led me to believe I could average over $2K and only work mon-fri. Probably, some can do that but where you live will always make a difference. Living in a place not optimal to the network is of course mitigated by staying out longer.
Their head quarters terminal is Knoxville, TN which has no state income tax, I may move down there and so give myself an instant 5.5% pay raise plus be right near our best customer (Alcoa) and right near a terminal, which is convenient for parking my rig and keeping my personal vehicle more safe - I am nervous about leaving by personal vehicle parked at home for extended periods.

Some of us are willing to move and others have too much good reason to stay put. But many of us can improve a lot in our lives and work by moving to where the opportunities and local government are better.

If you want to talk about specific or detailed things, you can DM me.

    what do you mean?
I like this work a lot more. I like the physical work and our customers are a better class of people than the grocery stuff I was used to.
Do you not like your job?

It means this doesn’t surprise me. You are dripping with greenhorn. You are new to them and new to flat bedding. You are still in the honeymoon. Especially if you think Nucor is a good shipper. You probably think Burns Harbor is a beautiful place.

You are putting down maverick and CRST and Kaplan. F&S isn’t any better.

As far a liking my job? It’s alright. I like it about as well as a fella can like a job.
