Simply write on the form that it would be a financial hardship to appear. That should do it. And if you're OTR, tell them. It worked for me.

Yeah this is why you want a good expensive lawyer if you ever face serious charges. They know to spend the time and effort selecting a jury.Rideandrepair Thanks this.

I got pulled twice when I lived in Montana and I ignored them both. They don’t mail them certified so there’s no proof it even got delivered and if someone did show up to “serve” me I probably would’ve been gone working. Both times I didn’t get anything in the mail about not showing up either.rollin coal, D.Tibbitt, kylefitzy and 3 others Thank this.

I think the folks who self select off of a jury pool are doing the defendant a favor. If you don’t want to be there and won’t take it seriously, you shouldn’t be there. It’s a man’s life in the balance after all.

That's just it. I was summoned a few years ago and the summons was just sent as regular mail.4wayflashers and TheLoadOut Thank this.

Its an interesting process to watch the selection. They pulled random names from the pool of people in the courtroom and those people had to stand before the prosecutor and defence, state their occupation, biases, etc. Prosecutor and defence then both had to agree if the juror was suitable.4wayflashers Thanks this.

It's called a scare tactic! You can't be fined or arrested for doing nothing wrong!TheLoadOut, 4wayflashers and Last Call Thank this.

See, here's the ting about every court in the country. If there is no paper trail it didn't happen.
If the mail isn't certified, signature required one can always claim they never got the summons. If the court follows the law anyway. There must be proof it was delivered (the whole innocent until proven guilty concept.)
Now if it's served or even signature required that's a different thing, but very, very few if any courts do that.TheLoadOut, 4wayflashers, Last Call and 2 others Thank this. -
Well, honestly, it's our civic duty; much like voting.......which in Georgia is how they get your name in the first place.
I know that may sound funny or offensive to some, but I'm holding on to our last bits of civilization.
I went when they asked me too last time. Sat through all the mumbo jumbo and instructions. Got my $25 and bought some beer.
That said, if my employer won't reimburse me, I'm not flushing $200 for my "civic duty". The way I see it, there's plenty of retired, unemployed, or otherwise don't really give a **** people to fill the rolls.
But, it is your civic duty.201, Last Call, 4wayflashers and 1 other person Thank this. -
My gf is addicted to those murder shows and podcasts. I feel like they are innocent or not enough evidence many times. I want to be selected so I know it will be fair lol.
Just heard about a woman who jury awarded 12.5$ million because she claimed she was fired for being black. She was late to work 47 times in 10 months and that’s why they fired her.Magoo1968, TheLoadOut, D.Tibbitt and 2 others Thank this.
