Few years back, I got the call for jury duty. Was still retired at the time so I went. Trial was for a pervert charged with molesting 4 different girls. I was question by the prosecutor but since my last name is the same as some unsavory characters in the county, she got rid of me. I would have liked to be on that jury. Guy ended up getting 50 years. Got off light as far as I was concerned.

I live in FL and got summons from both Broward and Palm Beach counties. The only option available in either county was to change the date I had to appear. Does Dade county allow you to fully opt out?gekko1323 Thanks this.

Only your teeth are guaranteed to go away just by ignoring them. Issues of the law can have bigger consequences than one imagines at first. Consequences don't ONLY apply to people that agree with those consequences. Not showing up for jury duty is something worse than an overdue library book or parking ticket and less than a minor criminal offense. Why volunteer for the consequences when you don't have to.201 and northstarfire0693 Thank this.

With 45 genders to choose from, odds of the defendant being a man are somewhat slim. Assuming the wrong gender could get you in trouble.

Every jury summons gives a phone number and/or website to answer questions about jury duty.
You can put your mailing address on the Post Offices service called Informed Delivery. It is free and available to all address and PO Boxes. You get a picture of mail being delivered to your address daily. I used that service for years when I was OTR and even when I was working 2,000 miles from home so I could see any important mail that may need attention. I highly recommend Informed Delivery. It's free.

I don't know what you mean by "fully opt out". You mean permanently? I don't know. But in Miami, I called and told them that I couldn't make it. And that was that.

I was able to delay it three times then set it up for the week between Christmas and New Years. Almost everyone in the court is on vacation so there are hardly any trials scheduled. Both times there was only one trial that week and they both settled before lunch then everyone was dismissed and considered to have fulfilled their jury obligation.

I'm not a "leftist" but I'll quote you, and tell you how American and patriotic it is to express your thoughts via speech and other mediums. Freedom of speech and all that.
I'm just here for laughs.
Wear a "I Voted for TRUMP!" shirt. Or "I voted for BIDEN!" shirt. Both should get you DQ'd mocked and scorned.
If it's a drug trial..."I Voted for BERNIE! LEGALIZE ALL DRUGS!!!!111!!!"
If it's a cop trial "Dirty cops get me ***!" or "Baton us I believe your innocent." " Go police go!" "Defund the politicians!" "I <3 Handcuffs and nightsticks in bed"
Domestic violence go with the classic t shirt of "I wouldn't have hit her if she stayed in the kitchen". or "I'm team Ike!"
Could be like this guy..
The above is humor....call back the hounds an cancel posse.
