Current rates are now below fleet operating costs! It's official!

Sounds like everyone’s happy with what they do. No need to try so hard to prove or disprove anyone else, if that’s the case. I just bought my 3rd tire within a week. I’m happy it’s over. Always in 3’s. Now I won’t have a tire problem for a while. Also had to buy a foot valve. One more thing to fix. Not complaining, just glad it only cost $138. I don’t make the big bucks. Never have. Met plenty who do. They come and go. Somehow I survive. Lol. Maybe someday I’ll be a Bigshot!!

 

These dollar fifty loads make me happy. I enjoy running twice as much! I say drop the rates down to 1.00/mi. So we can hit the bottom quicker!

 

That’s interesting. Because you should usually be afraid of the guy who looks weak.

 

I like this thread but I'm out if it continues to turn in to everyone bashing everyone else's choices and values. I know you all will miss me, Lol.

The beauty of trucking is that there are so many ways to do it. Some value time off, some value chrome, some value ambition, some value building a big company, some value staying small. Why not leave it at that?

So exactly how does anybody who invests capital in their career of choice not "pay" for their job? What is the difference between someone wishing to get into a specialized field like medicine or dentistry spending between a quarter and a half million dollars on college, and a person wanting to spend the same amount on trucking equipment different? If you want to start a restaurant, and spend a great deal on a storefront and equipment, is that not also buying a job? Starting a business of ANY KIND requires a financial investment, regardless of if it is a few thousand or millions of dollars. You somehow make it sound like cheating, and these businesses should somehow just form organically with hard work and a lot of luck. Real life doesn't work like that. I invested in a college business degree which allowed me to run my own business for 30 years. I sold that business which allowed me to buy a new truck and trailer and become an O/O which I'm now retired from. Did I buy my job? You're #### right I did, and proud of it.

 

I was trying to get out of Wyoming in the Casper area. Check this load out. Broker said he moved 2 already for $800 and it’s the best he will do. That’s 70 cents a mile.

 

I think you misunderstood me. I am saying the same thing you are. You just happened to skipped my initial comment on the subject and who originally made the state that I disagreed with.
