Only people I tip are sit-down restaurant staff, food delivery drivers, and my barber (been friends a decade and he does a dam fine job). Everyone else can take a hike. I'm not tipping you for clicking my order on a screen.
Americans are getting tired of tipping, survey shows.

When going thru a self checkout, when the total price comes up after taxes, there should be a minimum 10% off your total bill for doing a checkers job!TheLoadOut, buzzarddriver, cuzzin it and 2 others Thank this.

At the McDonalds drive thru, do you tip at the window you pay or at the window you get your food?
-
Few experiences in the world compare to getting rolled with rohypnol (Bill Cosby'd); coming to with a sore butthole AND a bad haircut.
-
Last door dash delivery of groceries earned the lady driver a $15.00 tip, because we rarely do utilize such services.
2-3 bucks is a joke.

Tipping BEFORE a meal used to stand for To Insure Proper Service, probably from the '40's.
I tried it ONCE at the counter of a t.a. restaurant and it failed miserably.

A LOT of so called "wonderful restaurants" are not when Patrons start actually LOOKING AROUND THE INTERIOR & EXTERIOR of restaurants, 'specially some of those so called "high end joints".
Wife and I went to a place in Greensboro, NC called LeBlon.
I'll NEVER go again, not because of the cost $48.00 per person or a cheaper rate but no Meat, but because the exterior glaringly looks unkempt & run down, as well simple overlooked interior maintenance issues, like CLEANING.
Desserts at $8.00

A friend of ours paid for it as a gift to our 30 year Wedding Anniversary as well because I may not be around much longer due to Stage 4 Metastatic Bladder Cancer.
The "Tip" was 25%.Last edited: Jun 11, 2023
Thrasher28 and Siinman Thank this. -
I dont tip like I used to. I seldom ever tip 15%. Its got to be really over the top to get that or more.
I'll give them something depending on the situation, but its got to be reasonable. And its not always based on the price of the food. Its based on:
1) they don't make minimum wage
2) if the service was what was required... then was it more or less than required.
3) How attentive they were to my tea glass.
The first thing is, people who work should get paid. And they should get paid by the employer, just like anywhere else. Tipping should come after that, AND.... as a option, not an expectation.
Some claim that if the employer pays the wait staff, then food prices will go up. No it wont... not for the customer. My food price increases because I have to pay a tip. Whether I tip $10 or whether the food price goes up by $10 is the same thing.
The wait staff should be paid by the employer & the price of doing business should be included in the price. Just like anyone else's job or business.
Yeah, I'd say I am one of those who has been tired of the tipping system here in the U. S. for a long time.

Speaking of barbers. Shop I used to go to in Austin years ago was run by an older gentleman. He sold it to a younger dude. I had quit going there as I found a place that charged 7 bucks, no English spoken lol and decided to go back. This was about 10-12 years ago. Walked in and axed how much is a haircut. Dude said 20 bucks. I walked out. Called around and everybody wanted 20 bucks. F that.
Now I cut it myself or if it's too cold outside , go to a lady that cuts it for 10 bucks. I always tip her. -
I got tired of spending $20 a month, including tip for a haircut. With no more hair than I had left anyway. Only took the barber less than 5 minutes. So I bought a hair clipper and cut it all off down to @ 1/16 of an inch. And keep it that way.

I see nothing wrong with this outlook and have a similar outlook on trucking. This is why I don't believe in per mile pay as I believe the carrier should be paying for everything for the employee.
