I'm responsible for my operations P&L.... I don't set the per mile rate. That is negotiated by people who make a bigger paycheck than I do...

 

Dude, someone posted a load here today (screenshot) for .22 a mile........seriously

 

How much freight in on the LS board that’s paying top dollar?

 

I've seen 3-400 miles loads posted for $25.

 

Oh, I know. I'd be equally embarrassed to put that out there, too. But near enough 12' wide through three states at $900 (originally $600) is just about as bad.

 

So they're the brains behind it. They set the rate and you have to operate within those parameters. So you really have nothing to do with the rates.
