Likely you already were jack knifed into trailer before you threw it in reverse which is when you heard or saw the crunch. You basically turned to sharp . This is why a tight trailer to bunk gap can be tricky . If it’s night turn on back up lights and watch behind you not just in front when executing a tight turn.
