A good agent will always get you a better deal especially if you compare the same company to an automated online quote. Change agents if you feel yours is bad.

A good broker is an asset.

Every potential renewal they will have a couple other options/prices just in case.

Have someone 'just on the edge' of meeting the insurance company standards and they can reach out to the underwriters and get an approval.

Suffer a catistrophic loss and they can birdog some relief, like seeing a reserve of your entire coverage amount adjusted to the actiual payout so you expereince mod becomes 'somewhat' acceptable to other underwriters at the crucial time when you are being dropped because of that loss which may be the difference in obtaining new coverage.

You really cannot do all this on your own.

not trying to be flippant but I never really looked into it because I don't have time (I have the money) to go through with setting it up.

 

Self insured is a little more than just having some money. Have looked into it, still more beneficial (at least to me) to have a mileage program. Trucks don't move, no cost.

I doubt it with just two trucks. A friend is with just five trucks, but more than double my rate.
