Getting set up with a CLC card is definitely the way to go, if you’re going to be frequently staying in motels. Their rate is a fraction of any other offered rate. However, not every location is a place you’d want to stay.

As I learned recently, Google maps is VERY inaccurate. Needed a place to park in Spearfish, SD, I was having A/C issues so spending the night in the truck at Walmart in a massive downpour wasn't an option. First hotel said they had truck parking, according to Google maps they had truck parking, according to the desk clerk they had truck parking, until I arrived and realized that there were 5 3 ft tall concrete barricades blocking the entrance where a truck could pull in. Clerk suggested I could use the regular entrance, I started to pull in and almost wiped out the portico, not to mention had I gotten in, I would have had to back back out in the morning, and at 5:30 when I was attempting to park, the lot was already half full.

Hate to disagree with you but, 90% of those hotels have horrible reviews. I stay at lots of hotels but like 99% of the ones listed on that site are a no go.D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

I totally agree. I have struck gold only once with that website so far, I wouldn't book a room strictly based on it's available truck parking. I let the reviews assist in my decision making, but I was just letting the OP know such a site exists.JonJon78 Thanks this.

Red Roof Inn, Grand Junction, Colo., huge dirt lot in back, next to the TA Express, food is subjective, the restaurant has changed names/hands/menu's at least 5 times in 10 yrs.
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
I drive a day cab and do a lot of OTR.
I just use google earth and look at the sites. Also make a phone call if it’s someplace I’m not familiar with.
There are several chains I stay away from like Red Carpet or Red Roof.Still undecided Thanks this. -
So even non-truck drivers could get discounted rates on hotels? When I was at a CLC hotel last night a regular guy came in and they charged him $220 and for me they charged $68 with the CLC card.

Look at all hotels where you want to go. Use satellite view, call the front desk at one that looks like it would work to see if it’s okay.
With a trailer its a pain.. good luck. -
Quality inn Gordonsville,TN highly recommend. Older, clean and nice truck lot. Even has a diagram on how to park at front desk, Hotshotters are a different breed.
IH9300SBA, Long FLD, navypoppop and 1 other person Thank this.
