1. Go out the truck and lower the landing gear.
2. Disconnect air and electric lines.
3. Go in truck and pull that sucker in photo just to release fifth wheel kingpin.

If this is how its used, it is a waste. In fact, if somehow it goes wrong, u leave ur trailer behind.
Mine broke today and thought about buying a new one and it costs (the valve) $320 at fleetpride?
Huge waste with no use (for me at least). Decided to remove it altogether.
Whats ur experience with it?

When my friend was running a bunch of hoppers he saved money on his work comp premium by having the agent come out and look at his trucks. He showed the agent that they all had electric tarps and push button hoppers. He also showed him how they used the suspension gauges for loading and how his trailers didn’t have catwalks on the ends. Drove as a lease driver for one of those mega companies. Trucks were stuffed with unnecessary crap, which supposedly made easy and safe to drive. Yet, they were overcompensating themselves by cutting the load rates on me (like crazy). At the end of the day I was making just as much as any burger flipper while doing OTR months at a time and expending my health. I was young and naive, I guess. My theory is that some of these Megas are going to them because they screw so many drivers that guys are pulling the release arms and dropping trailers just out of spite for these companies. And the companies figure it’s easier to install an in-cab kingpin release than treat people right. Idk maybe that isn’t the case, but I started out with CRST, and pretty much everyone who ever worked there hates them because, well, they’re CRST. They had them on their trucks, and I always thought that was why. But yeah, you’re using it right.

All the ones I’ve seen still have the standard release arm. I sure wish I had one on my new truck. It would save me a trip in and out if the cab with a mechanical rgn.

Cuts down on shoulder injures and workers comp claims.
But the company has to keep them clean and lubed in order for them to work properly.
The air cylinder s not a fan of salt off the roads in the snow belts.
