Stolen from Instagram. What do you guys think of this? He has it strapped well from what I can see. Maybe not tight enough? Man I feel for this guy.

A 4x4 under front and rear of bundles would help with the telescoping of the 2nd layer, but wouldn't do anything for the single on the top. Looks like 3 straps over it. Some loads are just a pain and stupid stuff happens no matter what you do. Actually, a 4x4 under one end of that bundle could have probably given enough bow to help prevent it, but I wouldn't have thought to stick one up there either - with that load, there's a good chance I'd have been learning his mistakes as well.
I had a tarped load, loaded just about like that this past week, with one bundle up top. My rear tarp came down over the front of the bundle, and front tarp was overlapping back 2 feet from the front of the bundle, everything was tucked nice and tight with plenty of bungees. Still, the wind hit just right and got under, blowing my rear tarp up like a hot air balloon. I earned my spot on the haul of shame for the day. -
We had a mill that we hauled for that we had this problem with packaging.
We found that a "package width" 2X3 under the forward strap with a short block in the middle will help control the center slide.
on a particularly troublesome load an old hand told me to get a large bottle of 7UP or SPRITE and pour it over the front of that lift then go have lunch. the liquid dries and the sugars stick the wood together lightly. It works! The only trouble is ants can find it interesting at the receivers.CAXPT, cke, Nostalgic and 1 other person Thank this. -
Sometimes if the load isn’t riding good it can be easier in the long run to tarp it so it stays on the trailer.

Do any of yall cinch your lumber? I carried a load last year that you couldn't strap any tighter, and belly wrapped. More than enough straps, and that stuff still vibrated forwards in the middle.
I ended up getting some 50 and 60 foot straps to cinch that stuff, and at that time I wasn't putting dunnage under the front and rear. Haven't had any move since though -
That’s one of the times it’s perfectly fine to throw a strap over the overlap of your tarps.
I had this ugly ####### come apart on me at the overlap 50 miles into the trip. Overlaps near transitions in height is less then ideal. -
Looks like pallet wood. Not the highest quality of lumber. If you really chinch down on them the bow a little. When that happens, they will start to walk. A good snug is better, so they won’t bow. Putting something like a sticker under one end helps. A single piece of wood on top, then run the strap over it helps as well.

I always thought if it bows it’s better as it won’t slide as easily. When I get home I’m going to saw one of my 8’ dunnage boards in half for BS like this.CAXPT Thanks this.
