You can use your aunts house. That's legal.billermo Thanks this.

Chinatown, this is interesting, how easy was it to purchase your houses, are you still a Chinese citizen?
-
House prices are ok here, Vietnam, not that you asked me.
Condos are easier here for foreigners to buy.
The killer is if you have a kid and want to send your kid to an international school to learn in English (and be accepted into a western university eventually). Crazy expensive. For a high school senior at my kid's school, it's $35k a year. 8th grade is $25k. And that's for one of the cheaper international schools.Chinatown Thanks this. -
Interesting, I was wondering how easy it would be to buy property as a non local. I believe Texas is trying to enact a ban on Chinese nationals owing land or property in the US.

I'm born and raised in Tennessee. My wife is Chinese citizen. That's how we could purchase a home.Constant Learner, Bumper and billermo Thank this.

I put mine in public school vs. international school. I don't remember paying any tuition for public school. The immersion paid off because he's fluent in English & Mandarin, plus knows some Japanese & German.
There were a few kids in his school that have Russian mothers and Chinese fathers. The Russian women immigrated to China and married Chinese men, which is an easy process for Russians.Constant Learner Thanks this. -
Most go back 3 years, some 5, a few 7. If you’re working for a conpany hauling for the US government, they’ll look at driver record back to Day 1 and criminal back to 17. If you can get TEIC and HazMat, you’re likely golden.
as far as driving record, only moving violations. -
The public education system down here doesn't have a good reputation, and it's all in Vietnamese. Very old school, a lot of rote learning. Western foreigners here almost always opt for international. My kid has always been English first, it took her a few years to speak Vietnamese decently. That was her choice. She's also had a few years of French in school but can't really speak it now. She sounds as American as we do.
So from what you're saying, it sounds like you come to the US to work but you have your family set up back in China? That's pretty much what I'm trying to do now.Chinatown Thanks this. -
My family is with me in China and in USA. My son started middle and high school in Las Vegas, but I pulled him out due to wokeness and enrolled him in online high school. He did pre-school and grades 1 thru 4 in Beijing public schools them we moved to Las Vegas/Henderson for grades 5 thru 12. He starts grade 11 this fall.hotrod1653, Constant Learner, Bumper and 1 other person Thank this.
