I was born in ####cagoland and with any luck I will never go back there again.

 

I didn’t read the whole thread but there is plenty of good companies in Chicago area. Just avoid Eastern European 1099 companies lol

A lot of foreign immigrant companies from what i heard. My 1st time working for one and i gotta say… some of their practices they doing, i have never heard of! I mean what the hell is an escrow??

 

I believe I can answer that question. Ahem...
You pay someone money out of your own pocket for the privilege of hauling their freight and making them money. Sounds like a win win to me.

 

The last company I was leased to had a $2500.00 escrow. They would take $100.00 a week out of your pay and put into an escrow account. It stopped when you get to $2500.00.
If you had an accident they would take $1000.00 as soon as it was reported. $1000.00 deductible right off the top.
The company supplied the ELD & fuel card when you de lease They would hang on to your money for 45 days to cover any outstanding balances and return the ELD in working condition. Then you would receive a check for the remainder.
