I have a volvo D12 and have started noticing soot around the intake by the ecm. Is it a leak at the intake or something else? 20230623_120236.jpg

I would think an EGR leak.

EGR's are on exhaust side, right side. Intake is on left.

Where does the EGR feed into the intake?

It doesn't. Feed is from CAC into intake. I'm just wondering if too much exhaust is getting into CAC...after just replacing turbo.

I'm guessing it happens when turbine/bearing on turbo goes bad. The CAC is connected to EGR cooler. Maybe it's clogged and backfeeding. I'm here for answers not more questions

EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. Puts exhaust gas into the intake air to reduce nitrous oxide (NOx) when the air/fuel mixture ignites. Same on a gasoline engine in a car.

    RockinChair Thanks this.
