Soot around intake???

    Likely an intake leak. You can have someone operate the throttle while looking for any leaks which would be easier if that area was cleaned first. A shop can use air or smoke with special adaptors to check the CAC and all piping for any leaks. The smoke or air comes out anywhere there is a leak in the intake system. Air or smoke goes in the intake piping after disconnecting it from the turbo.

    OK. Intake is plastic housing I'm guessing after 1.8 million miles it might of cracked with new turbo.

    Spray some ether around the intake gasket. If the engine revs up then you found your problem.
