This is an Electronic Viscous fan BTW ..
I tried to option the normal heavy duty 2 speed air operated fan clutch on my 2020 XE but they only allowed the viscous fan...IDK why Volvo is doing this.
I like the idea that you can ramp the rate up and down but the problem is viscous fan clutch has generally don't last nearly as long as a heavy duty 2 speed air operated clutch.Newto Trucking Thanks this. -
How did you fix your fan? Test or replace? We have same issue. 2012 Volvo D13 electric fan constantly on.

Will it be possible to replace the electronic fan for an air operated?
I have a 2012 and the shop replace the whole assembly but still won’t engage.
The volvo shop told me that I have to reprogram the new one but they won’t touch my truck because it a deleted unit.
I just don’t know how to make this thing work -
kitmaster makes air fans. Take a look at this, it's the work shop trouble shooting manual for volvo electric fan.

On volvo with d13 engine check f9 fuse in the engine fuse compratment es2 if blown, if not check plug that supplies power to the solenoid( key on), if power is okay take out the solenoid and check resistance with mutlimeter, if not resistance change solenoid most likely bad. Resistance should be something around 0.379
