I've been browsing the forums lately looking at over the road companies and the current freight market. I've been local for the last year or so and have been thinking about going back over the road.
I got my CDL in September 2021 through Prime inc and I was there for about 7 months on their reefer division. I wanted to be home more at that specific time and I ended up getting a local job with Waste Management driving a rear load garbage truck (class B). I've been there for the last 14 months but I'm considering going over the road again. I miss driving around the country and of course the pay was really good. Not to mention a little easier on the body.
I've heard reefer is doing decent right now as things are slowing down in terms of freight. I'd like to get back into reefer but Prime is out of the question since they are no longer hiring out of Florida. I'm currently living in Destin which is between Pensacola and Panama City.
I'm trying to find a decent company to work for that hauls reefer trailers but I'd be open to other things as well. I have my tanker endorsement and twic card and I've considered getting my hazmat and doubles/triples. I also have a clean driving record.
I did pretty good while at Prime and ran a lot of miles every week. They always kept me moving and I was making good money as a company driver. Is it still possible to make good money with the freight slowing down? Are there any companies you guys would recommend?
Thinking about otr again

Maybe Abilene Motor Express.
Hires all over Florida and a couple of trainers live in Florida.
Abilene has a couple of drop lots in California, so they do run full West Coast.
