you’re correct. After looking for jobs daily for the last 6 months I’ve only come across 1 company that specifically states, ‘1 year experience preferred, or recent graduate from an accredited school.’ I applied to this company a week ago. Fingers crossed

AMEN TO THAT!! Yes, when i first started my own trucking business and was looking for insurance, I was SHOCKED about how astronomically expensive it was for new carriers. Regardless of my clean history, experience and credit history, they wanted several thousand dollars. Shoot, my friend had to put down 29k!! But as you said, they dont gamble or play games; why would they? They base their business on STATISTICS, not gut feelings. The numbers dont lie.

In order to get that year experience you may have to take a job that is not ideal. Either the pay, commute, equipment, etc. If you can suck it up for a year, a bunch of doors will open for you.
HankScorpio Thanks this. -
No not that I know of.

There has never been a driver shortage. It's just an advertising ploy. There is however a shortage of quality drivers.Gearjammin' Penguin, tscottme, RockinChair and 1 other person Thank this.

neither is time with a trainer.

The propane job. It’s a straight truck class B job, correct? Take it. It has nowhere near the learning curve of a tractor trailer, so you should be fine with learning a straight truck and hazmat at the same time. And it should pay decently.
“Should “…..
Luck in battle.Gearjammin' Penguin and HankScorpio Thank this. -

the recruiter didn’t say. The commute time didn’t work for me. I’d spend 2 hrs a day driving to and from the company.
As an aside, I did find two jobs, both concrete companies, that are hiring cdl b drivers to drive concrete mixers. Recent cdl graduates welcome -
There's a difference in driving experience "preferred" and driving experience "required"
HankScorpio Thanks this.
