Many times a driver gets a little distracted and drifts onto the shoulder. Then instead of riding the shoulder until he has complete control, he jerks the wheel to the left when the product in the tank is going the other way. Least that's what the safety guy says

We’ll at least it was just LIN and he wasn’t pulling a customer trailer as they pull a lot of AirProducts trailers.

A dozen or so yrs ago we were running NI team w a broke or stuck road valve.
Creating a huge plume behind as we rolled.
I was in the bunk when the driver pulled into the truck stop on I94 to vent the unit.
Was a summer day and very humid.
He had already finished, was parked and inside when the fire department, state patrol and haz mat response team showed up.
They saw a green placard and thought it was anhydrous gas so started evacuation of the area..
I'm like wtf is going on as I pop out of the bunk. Firefighters in full respirator gear walks up in a panic. He's got his emergency response handbook in his hand as I roll down the window and ask what's up.
After I told em it was 1977 LNI and not a threat they kinda scratched their collective heads and after some discussion decided we weren't a threat.
DOT wrote us up for a ABS light and all was fine.
Guess they don't get much practice.

A while later we heard that a state vehicle had a incident negotiating the vapor cloud before we pulled off the road and was suing for some crash damage.

We had a guy layover in Vegas and his LIN trailer started to vent over night. Well he gets a phone call from the hotel stating his truck is on fire. He runs out to see cops and firefighters everywhere. They had already broke his driver’s window, and soaked the truck, driver is like WTH are you numb nuts doing!!!

Soon after we had signs put on the back of the trailers stating “Venting is part of normal operation”.

Had it happen several times during winter. Called down from room and fire department is on scene.
They are required to respond to a 911 call from a concerned hotel guest. I explain the situation, show the manifest and msds and they leave. Technically we should start the 10 from that point since it would be considered a on duty activity and I have but the last time I just rolled after my 10.
I'd bet if there was a incident with a competent investigation it could show that.

We put those stickers on also but get burned and beat up during the weather or washes.

Money isnt everything. It is a very different dynamic being in a truck that small for an extended period of time with someone else, and adjusting sleep schedules and trusting someone else while your sleeping.
Yes, the money is great, but look at the larger picture and make sure that if you dont like it, You can go back to being solo. At my barn, if you went to a different position, your position was filled after you left it.

I’ve done team most of my driving career and already used to it but it’s a tough decision because like you said, they will fill your position as soon as you transfer and no telling when you can come back once you move. I already let my manager know I am interested if a position was to come up. Not expecting anything happening until next year though.
