Companies that don't require refresher after more than three years of absence?

Not bs. I was out 35 1/2 months and everyone I talked to was demanding a refresher with a team. I dodged the bullet by calling jb hunt, which was the last company I worked for and they said I just slid under the wire to avoid refresher by a week. So I went back to them. That what..5 years ago?

 

Granted I didn't talk to everybody in the world.... but many.

 

Some actuarial number cruncher for a large insurance company calculated that the accident rate will drop by .0001 if they require a refresher course at 36 months. Overtime the other insurance companies learn this will save them a penny or two and it becomes a issue they push on the trucking companies and bingo it becomes the standard.

 

The company I’m leased to has a requirement of 3 years experience. The website doesn’t say anything about recent experience or otherwise. But in the end I suppose it’s up to the insurance company to make the call.

 

No experience required.

 

It’s bs because the companies use that policy to get a cheap team …….

You have to prove you can do the job because someone else is on the hook for the damage or death you cause if your word wasn't reliable. Insurance companies have rules and if you want insurance you obey their rules or you don't get insurance.

 

That's like saying "I won't buy a new car unless the car salesman tells me it's a good bargain." The recruiter will tell you whatever it takes to make you want to work at the company he represents. An internet-only search will lead you to a bad decision. It's like looking for your lost car keys where the streetlight makes it easy to see and not where you most likely lost your keys.

 

Companies have varying requirements. There is no one rule for most companies beside passing a drug screen.
