Driving seems to bring out the worst in people, just an observance from over the years.
First your moving into his house, not he into yours. Only pack what you actually need. Don't be a pig even if they are, and if you really can not tolerate your trainer just call your driver manager, most will not have a problem getting into someone else's truck.
I once tossed a trainee because he kept putting his crap on my bed, amounst other things. Sometimes it just don't work. I have also had trainee's that did not make it out of the terminal, and had some I hated to see them go. By in large trainers are doing it for the money, same reason were driving a truck, you know, for the money. I personally want a trainee to succeed and be a responsible driver. My petpeeve is following distance, as in too close. Slow down take your time enjoy what your doing.
Also I will take catnaps, checking in to see if they need anything or questions. They are licensed driver before the start of training, they should not need constant supervision. I have had trainees think you need to babysit them there entire driving shift, I disagree, my truck my rules. Im also big on teaching backing, the trainee will be doing almost all of the reverse driving.
Bad trainer

That’s a very good thing. Better for us to almost screw up bad, but have the trainer there to stop it, point out what was done wrong and how to fix or avoid it. Being criticized is hard but gotta learn.tscottme Thanks this.

That's outrageous. My trainer had me back into a parking spot EVERY time we stopped for any reason.Dennixx Thanks this.

My last 4-5 trainees I have offered to log us out of qcom at our yards so they can practice backing. Have yet to have one of them take me up on the offer. Occasionally we will stop at a somewhat empty truck stop to practice. They will do a back or 2 and call it quits. My belief is the more someone wants this job the better they will be, seems half of my trainees are tourists.,tscottme Thanks this.

I was always amazed at the shift in attitude over the years. Years ago people would jump at the chance but lately they seem just too lazy to do the extra work to be better!

I work in another industry. My experience is 90% of 20-somethings wouldn't flee a burning building if they had to do something difficult or didn't receive constant praise during their work.InTooDeep, Sixela918, 88 Alpha and 1 other person Thank this.
