Is he currently a company driver? Maybe check with ODFL to see their team/spouse training requirements. That's a good way for you to bring $250k into your house annually... After losing 30% to uncle sugar, stash 75% of the remainder in the bank for 5 years and see where you're at (that would be saving over $130,000 each year). Put the savings into a high-yield savings account, and you should be able to buy a new ultra sleeper with a dinette and shower on board, then pick out a fresh trailer of your liking, and have another $250k backup in savings in case anything goes wrong. Keep in mind this setup limits your cargo capacity, but will mean total independence (your true "home on wheels") where you will no longer need to pay rent or mortgage for accommodations.

Had you come with all the pertinent information up-front, you would have seen a vastly different response in here.

Assume....for the sake of the discussion...that you are already an accomplished driver (3+ years of driving)....with all the CDL endorsements (tanker, hazmat, and doubles/triples -- plus a TWIC card)...and you have a spotless safety record.

The most successful people I have seen/met in the trucking world were married couples....who ran as a team (with each other).

It's amazing the money those couples can make -- if they play their cards right.

Given all of the above -- an important series of questions for you:
    • Can you see yourself comfortably sharing the confines of a "sleeper" cab tractor with your spouse -- for hours/days/weeks at a time?
    • Or do you think you would need more personal "space" during that time?
    • During that same amount of time -- would you miss your friends/relatives? Or would you be content to just stay in touch via "zoom"?
    • Are you comfortable with the idea of driving a "big rig" for several hours at night (especially if the weather then is less than perfect)? If not -- if given the right training & experience -- do you think you could later get there?
    • Do you like the idea of driving to different parts of the US (regardless of the seasons) -- or are you really more of a "home body"?
    • Do you possess what one would call a "sense of adventure"? Or do you instead prefer more day-to-day predictability?
The answers to the above questions will likely point you in the right direction....o_O

I agree but sometimes the newbies don't know which questions to ask because they don't know exactly how much they need to know.
Lead them gently. Scolding is counter-productive.

If that were truly scolding (from me, at least)...I would have used a much nastier emoji.

    As mentioned
You don’t have to buy a truck to travel together and earn good money

    What is your current occupation?

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

The absolute sheer driving force of our national economy - without truck drivers, our entire national economy would come to an absolute standstill - if not outright be dead.

Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, every night, all year round.

It’s possible to make a small fortune in this business. Of course, you have to start with a large fortune!
