Oh, I didn't know we could slide the 5th wheel. Every company I've ever driven for had them locked in place.

Steer axle is based off the tire rating. So if the tires are rated for 6300, for example, you can put 12,600 on your steers. Its just a misconception from the 34,34 rule that steers can only have 12. I try and set my fifth wheel permanently to where fully loaded puts me around 11,600-800 on steers, but it's not always a perfect world in trucking, to say the least lol.

I just tried moving mine. Either I'm doing something wrong or I just don't know wtf I'm doing lol. Won't slide at all. Dropped landing gear, took plenty of weight off the drives...still won't move. Oh well.

If you're going to Denver you most likely have a reefer so I'd figure each hole is closer to or over 300 pounds as opposed to the 250 in a dry van. If you move the tandems back, then you put more weight towards the front. Remember, you get 400 lbs to play with due to having the APU, and if you have a full tank of fuel, it's 8 lbs to every gallon. I've always preferred to go a little heavier on the drive axles. To me, it ain't that much you can do about steers. That 200 may be your size lol. I'd probably haul that loadbin the 5th hole

I never slid it while I was in the truck lol, so it may have been set like that for multiple years now and just stubborn.

Try dropping your bags if you haven't already. And try rocking it back and forth a bit -- I'm sure you tried that too, but those are my only ideas lol. I'd say you're probably just better off letting it ride at 12,200

I agree. He'll burn that 200 off in fuel alone.

Well boys, I'm now in truck 1291 lol. I'll have been in every truck in the fleet before long. Truck pulled hard right from the time I got it. Thought it was just a poor alignment and ran my round trip to Dallas and stopped by the shop on my way to CO, with approval from dispatch. They couldn't get the drive axles anywhere close to spec, so they're guessing something wrong with an axle.

I'll get lucky one day lol

And getting ready to leave the yard -- took 47 tugs to get the seat belt to pull out. Factory CB system is toast somewhere, so I guess that'll be a few hundred at a CB store to run my own setup. Went to hook up to the trailer, shut the driver door, went to open it, and the exterior handle is now inoperable lol. Inside works at least, so I only have to enter through the passenger door, but can exit out the driver's side.

Can't win for losing, man. The only saving grace at the moment is how friendly the office and maintenance staff is. I know they'll bend over backwards to fix however many problems show up, so I'm trying not to lose hope.

I've never had luck quite this bad for weeks straight. Definitely takes a toll on your mental health. What should be a minor thing, like a broken door handle that'll get fixed in a week or two, sent me from 0 to 100 in a hurry. I have no faith in it, but time to see if this truck will at least drive straight down the highway...

74k miles, yeah. I remember someone saying about trucks not being aligned well from factory during orientation, so I didn't think anything of it. They put it on the rack and tried to get it closer, I test drove it, and came right back down MO-100 to 44 to bring it back. I'm picky, but the thing pulled right hard enough to take an exit ramp without touching the wheel. Noticeable screwed up tire wear just from a Dallas round trip, so I didn't want to burn through 6000 dollars in tires pretending it's fine.
