I was supposed to start orientation the next day for a company I had done the background, drug test, and MVR with. I received a call from another company that seem to be better in my opinion so I didn’t show up to orientation. Nothing happened, everyone just goes about their business. They’ll find another driver just as quick as they found me.

Sounds like "B" is a better fit for you, HOWEVER,,,I must warn you, "laid back" companies may or may not be around long, Lord knows I worked for many "hired on a handshake". Bosses I could party with, long gone due to regs, and it's the stuffy big fleets that will probably weather the storm better. The storm being the near future. Just saying,,,

You owe the first company at least a notice, maybe even a short explanation, but nothing more. You COULD just no-show and ghost them, but you never know when some day in the future you might need them. I've had this happen to myself, having to turn down one offer for something 'better'. Then C*v*d hit, the company turned to cr@p, and I applied to a different company, only to get interviewed by the same manager who used to work for the company I declined. I still work there today, and it's the best job I've ever had...

I’m starting to have second thoughts about company B now. It’s only been a week but I’m not sure it’s for me. I’m really conflicted because I need to earn income but the training isn’t quite what I expected. Could just be that I’m feeling overwhelmed or that I don’t like the industry, or both.
On the one hand, company B did give me the opportunity right out the gate, so I feel obligated to stick it out for a year to get experience. On the other hand, even if I stick it out I’m not sure I’d be happy here. Could just be that I’m the new guy and am worried about messing up or not learning my routes quick enough. It’s a mixed bag for me at this point. I’m excited to learn but dread going in to work at the same time.
Any thoughts on this? I came across yet another job posting that pays even more $ but not sure what their requirements are for cdl b drivers, as in what experience they’re looking for.Kyle G. and viper822004 Thank this. -
Could you tell us a little bit more info on exactly what you’re doing at company B?Kyle G. Thanks this.
