I live in Texas. I hear from some people you don't need an inspection for the truck. Others they say you do.D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

You need an inspection when renewing IRP plates. That’s it. I register my trailers without an inspection no problems.
FlyingJ mafia, Gliding ProStar, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this. -
You may be confusing an inspection with a VIN inspection. Any commercial vehicle that I have purchased has required a VIN inspection to get registered, but I'm not in Texas.
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
Yes, you will need an inspection if you are applying for IRP Plates. In Texas, the inspectors do not give inspection stickers anymore for a DOT inspection. They will give you a form to keep in the truck.FlyingJ mafia Thanks this.

Try it in Idaho. They will need to do a vin inspection before registering. Usually just call the Sheriff and they send someone out to do it.D.Tibbitt Thanks this.
