This concept, called Linehaul Station by it's creator and developer has the capacity to make a sea change about how some types of freight are moved about the country.
Largely paid for by carriers and in some cases shippers, one of the bigger beneficiaries would be drivers themselves. It is in the proposal stage, the players in the industry will determine it's adoption if at all.
Take a look, if you like it, pass it around. One of the reasons I got out of the business when i did is the deteriorating working conditions, parking, security etc.

Nice looking artwork. To cover the US they would need hundreds of these pie in the sky multimillion dollar facilities.
Remember IdleAir?
UPS does this in a basic form. Driver goes 600 miles to a town and drops trailer, gets his rest and then drives 600 miles back to home terminal. Others go out 300miles, swap trailers with another driver and return to home terminal each day.Studebaker Hawk Thanks this. -
You are absolutely correct. Meet and turns have been utilized to advantage by a number of companies.
We did it at Penske Logistics moving GM parts all over the eastern half of the country, and everybody was at home every night. And that was 25 years ago. -
wait til they find out about all the bags of poo and assorted goodies they have to clean up .
Everyone has a plan until they gotta pick up the poohope not dumb twucker Thanks this. -
Enter modern surveillance technology.
License plate readers for tractors and trailers
Photo face recognition technology deployed throughout.
Must have membership identification to enter and be tracked
Full time rolling security. Full time security at the gate.
This is not your fathers truck terminal.
Anyone gets caught with unacceptable behavior gets banned, stopped cold at the gate. And so does his company.
That includes hitting parked vehicles, dumping pallets behind, sweeping out etc.
they lose a few loads/contract because of a substandard driver, it won't take them long to see the light. -
it’d be great if someone actually enforced it. Everyone has the cameras , but no one seems to have nuts .
all these speedways and sheetz stations, adding truck parking. I think they’re prolly second guessing it now. They have cameras everywhere. The best they can do is put signs up on the doors “truck drivers, don’t put your pee bottles in the trash !” -
It will never get off the ground, but a few people are going to become very rich, and a bunch of suckers are going to lose a lot of money on this one...
-
You are correct.
But at any given moment do they have a copy of the driver's license of everybody on the property?
Do they have a membership list to match it against?
Do they have a copy of the registered owner of every truck and trailer on the property.?
Controlled access. This is not a truck stop. It doesn't even sell fuel.
Selling a secure facility to carriers and shippers that require it.
Let's see if the industry really does value good drivers who do the right thing,
or not. -
From what i read they are targeting being a 1 stop shop for everything but fuel... in the fine print, primarily for power only
-
So just a secure drop yard, which there are 1,000's of already?
