And to think I was just getting ready to tell you to quit yelling lol.
Hello Leroy and welcome to a great and very informational forum. The guys around here will tell you everything you need and want to know. And trust me they will not sugar coat it at all.
The only thing I can tell you is that you are definatly going to have to be older than 17 or even 18 to get on with most compnaies. Not sure but you may need to go local for a small delivery company at 18. Again dont quote me on that. But I know for a fact you need to be at least 21 to go OTR (over the road). Although most companies require you to be 23 or older.
But good luck to you bud and hang in there things will open up for you if you really want it.LEROYDOZOIS Thanks this. -
Welcome. If its in your blood, We won't be able to detour you, but you can count on spending at least the next year or more reading and educating yourself about the industry before you can even think about working. Do your homework on the business before you jump and be sure and do something about that eye... It may effect you getting a CDL or med card.
LEROYDOZOIS Thanks this. -
THE EYE THING IS WHEN IM SPENDING ALOT OF TIME LOOKING AT A SCREEN AND TRYING TO COMPREHEND WHATS ON THE SCREEN

IM BY NO MEANS SURE IF IT IS IN MY BLOOD BUT I KNOW THAT I DO WANT TO GET ON OR "INTO" SOMETHING THAT DEPENDS ON WHAT I KNOW "HOW GOOD I KNOW THE JOB VIA VETS FROM THE TRADE" V/S GETTING ON TO SOMETHING WHERE I WILL HAVE A BOSS UP MY BUTT 24/7
I WANT TO BE IN BUSINESS FOR MYSELF.... NOT FOR SOMEONE ELSE...
I MAY HAVE WORDED THAT WRONG BUT ITS KINDA HARD TO EXPLAIN FROM MY 17 YR LD CURIOSITY
THANKYOU ALL FOR THE KIND WORDS AND !!!!YESS!!!! I DO KNOW I HAVE MUCH LEARNING TO DO BEFORE I CAN MAKE A DECISION
LeRoy DoZois -
Well even if you're in business for yourself, You will have bosses up your butt. These folks are better known as customers in the do it yourself world, and some can be pretty demanding.
So always keep in mind.. When you are in business for yourself... You are actually in business for someone else!
LEROYDOZOIS Thanks this. -
Leroy. Sure you have it in the blood? Go visit a doc it's very sad when you find out it's in the blood.
JustSonny, LEROYDOZOIS, The Challenger and 1 other person Thank this. -
Luis, be nice! Take your fellow teen under your wing....show him the ropes!
LEROYDOZOIS Thanks this. -
Wrong...No one showed me the ropes lol. Ropes come with time.
LEROYDOZOIS, The Challenger and JustSonny Thank this. -
FOR ME THATS THE SAME THING LIKE FISHING... (LITTLE ROPES GIVVEN TO ME AND ALOT OF KNOTS

TOOK ME ABOUT A YEAR TO OVERLOAD MY BRAIN AND GET THAT INTERNET ADDICTION TO FIND OUT MORE...MORE...MORE(THAT FOLLOWED THE NEXT TWO YEARS
)
MY KNOWLEDGE WAS GAINED BY THE SHEAR CURIOSITY OF JUST WANTING TO KNOW.....
SO IF TRUCKING GRABS MY ATTENTION LIKE MY FISHING WEBSITE... THEN I SHOULD BE A FAIRLY SUCCESSFULL TRUCKER IN MY TIME
JustSonny Thanks this. -
Leroy,
Welcome to the forum. Do yourself a favor and look into getting a p/t job at a customer or warehouse. If you do this you have an idea of how to load a truck, understand more than a drivers point of view, and talk to drivers on your breaks. Good luck.
KHLEROYDOZOIS and RoughHouse Thank this.
