I find myself rooting (legally) for an entitled four wheeler driver who drives too fast in a parking lot.

 

Buccee’s brass has no comment because they allow the local pd to sit in their parking lots to enforce this crap. Happens in New Braunfels as well.

 

Most places the cops can’t write up anything on private property except DUIs and handicap parking spaces.

What cop doesn’t have a ticket book ?

 

A few years ago we did a lot of construction work in a huge shopping center parking lot , trenching in pipes , installing wells etc for a Enviromental remediation system due to a leaky gas station .

we had to park our trucks to barricade the speeding cars .
And when we saw a police officer nearby we asked about the speeding traffic and they told us they couldn’t do anything on private property except DUIs and crip slip parking tickets .

So when we paved over the trenches we mounded up the asphalt into a speed bump .

 

I don’t even see how you can get a DUI on private property, nor while sleeping behind the wheel for that matter..

 

Depends on the state .

Texas may allow cops to enforce minor traffic laws on private property, but most states don’t .

likey this cop was just gonna harass the guy and didn’t expect the pushback and got his ego hurt , and had to make sure he won ,
This guys ticket will most likely get dismissed , and if the cop with the hurt feelings had actually taken the guy and locked him in a cage , for no crime at all, the motorist would have a fantastic lawsuit against the city .
Arrest with no probable cause is a good lawsuit.
