I think it is ultimately the unions fault. Yellow told them they were going bankrupt. They tried to implement one yellow as a way to streamline and restructure. The union originally agreed and then stalled the process. So yes I think the union is at fault. Now they are all unemployed.

Now I also think yellow should have never went on their buying spree. That’s what really started the whole spiral.

    As do I.
Think about it. If the union had said yes and tomorrow everything would have been One Yellow, they still wouldn't have made it because they were burning through cash so fast they couldn't ever catch up.
The Teamsters knew this and used the opportunity to put everyone else on notice that they weren't F'n around. And they won.

I went through something similar when PIE tankers sold out to Matlack. No warning, no advance notice. All the signs were there, we just didn't want to see them. We figured that they'd been around so long they couldn't go out of business.
In the end it didn't matter. The bigwigs took their golden parachutes and the rest of us grabbed our lunch boxes and headed down the road in somebody else's truck.
Stay in touch with TTR and keep us up to date on what you're doing. Best of luck to you.

Look at what happened at UPS. Do you think they got the message?

If everything would have gone through they could have obtained financing. And if the restructuring and streamlining would have been implemented correctly there was a possibility they could have recovered.

Possibility isn’t certainty, but by blocking it they certainly were going bankrupt. I sorta think the union thought that yellow was bluffing. Which isn’t without precedent, but unfortunately they were not. I think the IBT over played their hand.

I think we view winning differently. That’s probably the root of the differing opinions.
