(During daylight hours lol)
I run exterior lights during the day but if a scale is ahead I turn 'em off until I clear the scale. Why hand yourself over to the Diesel Cops on a silver platter? I would bet most light bulb failures occur while your vehicle is hauling a__ down the hideously rough roads we have to drive on, ie after the Pre-Trip Insp

Most of us don't bother turning them on.
Why give highway patrol a reason to pull you over in broad daylight.W923, Last Call and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
I never turn lights on during the day unless weather becomes an issue.
My truck was equipped with the DRL’s. When one finally burned out, I took the other bulb out and tossed it for the reasons @snowwy and @Timin770 cited.mustang190, Last Call, hope not dumb twucker and 2 others Thank this. -
I got the timing wrong along a section of road that had a daylight lights on law a few miles before a scale and they OOSed me claiming I had an electrical problem. The guy was in the parking lot sitting in his pickup and saw me shut them off about 3/4 a mile up the road and couldn't find anything wrong with them but claimed there was an intermittent short.
Odd day as the only station the model room TV had was running a Groundhog day marathon.
These days I tend to stick to multi-element LEDs, carry a battery powered heat gun, plugs, wire, and don't make any changes to my lighting at all anywhere near the scales.hope not dumb twucker and nikmirbre Thank this. -
While on I40 in NC.....I was empty, pulled through a scale and parked after the scale to tighten a strap that is over my tarps on the top deck of my RGN. I do a quick walk around and notice I have a flat tire on my truck. I roll my truck back and forth to find the hole...sure enough a bolt actually went all the way through so I wont be able to patch it....... I have custom fenders over my tires...so while im on the ground loosening the bolts to take off fenders...guess who I see drive up beside of me......You guessed it......good ole DOT...... he wants to inspect me....Yes, I get put OOS.....

I tried showing him the bolt that I was in the process of taking out..... the head of the bolt was still on and not sheared off so it hadn't been in there long....this happened last month!!!!
