I'll buy your dinner at the Crossroads cafe .. they set me up for the show .. their the ones that called the law when they seen her head out the door with knife in hand .. That sheriff had me alittle scared when we was headed to the gray bar inn cause he was telling me stories about her ..If they were true or not IDK but I know that knife she pulled was real..Last edited by a moderator: Jul 29, 2023

If I have a proper Jack I prefer to hang the clutch on the flywheel and stab it that way. Without a proper Jack I prefer to hang the clutch on input shaft get it bolted up the start a pressure plate bolt and turn the motor two full turns one to start them all one to tighten them. What you gotta watch for is the lip pressure plate going around the flywheel but does seem easier without the proper jacktramm01, pete781693, Dale thompson and 4 others Thank this.

I'am still trying to figure out what you used for a proper lifting device in a parking lot when its a heat index of 115° and your laying on the ground puting a power divider intramm01, pete781693, Isafarmboy and 5 others Thank this.

Age and distance would have saved me, as I always seemed to wind up with the "chunky" girls...Last edited: Jul 29, 2023

You know that tube on a Wilson pot that has the two rubber plugs for the registration etc. put the ratchet side of a cheap ratchet strap around it. Run the other side down behind the front strap on fifth wheel slide and hooked the hook into the bolt on top right beside the dowel pin. Had it standing up leaned up against the pinion. Pulled all the slack and went to ratcheting. Gotta keep the tail straight but it put it right up there.
Way number 2 assemble power divider a piece at a time on differential. Then put empty case over it but you gotta stab the fork into the hole that way can be a #####. Then put you front seal housing and yoke on.
I know who the #### carry’s a 2-3/4 socket out on the road. My first lesson a broke down truck taught me is all the tools in the world won’t do you any good if you can’t reach them. And a truck never breaks down at the shop. So I probably keep more #### than I should. There was a time I couldn’t afford to get it fixed out on the road. I guess old habits die hard…..now I try it to see if I still canCoffey, tramm01, pete781693 and 7 others Thank this. -

This may help someone some day.
I find that removing the leveling valve link and walking up the carrier with support blocks underneath to allow tightening with a binder helps.
Fill the bags, put another block under, lower, move a few links and repeat.
Takes a while but you can use the suspension to make quite fine adjustments.
Had to do this with low leaf z springs that one driver had problems with breaking too many times. I keep an end caps to block off the bags on the axles I am working on.
Obviously this is high risk, so watch where you put body parts and work from the top only.Feedman, tramm01, pete781693 and 5 others Thank this. -
I tried to rent one, but no luck.
We have a cheapy automotive jack that would lift it but we had to balance it on the jack. Had it ratchet strapped on there to try and avoid dismemberment, bit it was mostly for show. All was going good. Had to keep raising a touch as it went in due to the angle of the engine, which we managed until we ran out of jack. I think we let air out the front tires until we got it slid in.
I had asked for a front position on the shifter, but after it was in the stick still wouldn't work due to the retarder. Ended up doing a bit of fabrication work in the stick and it works great. I #### sure wasn't going to pull the tranny again!
Keep in mind, we ain't mechanics. I often worry if we're gonna cost ourselves more than we save trying to do stuff ourselves.
We have a local little shop here that is honest. They can do this one as we are backed up with work.Feedman, tramm01, pete781693 and 6 others Thank this. -
That would work! If I could have found the leveling valve on that walking beam!LolRockinChair, Feedman, tramm01 and 4 others Thank this.
