Maybe that driver was accused with some stealing or smuggling.
But I doubt it’s some company policy to search the drivers unless they have a reason too..
We all know those tractors are our home.
You’re more than welcome to inspect it but no driver would be okay searching his home*

The guys I see working regional for Marten often haul a lot of Coke loads. Then closer to home, I see a lot of them pulling for Walmart. Many Coke facilities I deliver to are just littered with Marten trailers so I'd imagine you may be doing that account.

There are two gotcha's in that.
No longer than 48 hours is one.
Be available is the other.
If they do that for home time... no longer than 48 hours... that would mean that if you delivered your load at 1600 on Friday they would try to plan you back out at 1600 on Sunday. Barely a day off and then you have to drive overnight when you come back.
And 'be available' could mean pretty much anything.
Deliver a load at noon, and they might expect you to be available at 2200 for another load.
Not much time for sleep with that, especially if you are not tired enough to sleep just after you woke up that morning. -
I’m fine to get another load right after my 10 hours sleep “as long as I know ahead” like if they pre-planed me then I can arrange my sleeping..
But if they sent me a load plan in my mid of my 10 hours sleep then we might have a problem.. cause I can’t sleep while getting up every hour to check if I got plans or not..
About that 48 hours still kinda confusing me
What if I delivered like you say at 1600 on Friday then heading home takes few hours and to be available on 1600 Sunday and who knows where the pickup up then it’s not a 48 hours home
I would’ve thought the 48 hours starts when I go off duty when I parked at home not the moment I delivered..
Anyways worse case scenario it won’t be a big deal losing one guarantee week off the week I’m home..
Honestly I could care less about the guarantee cause I’m willing to run as hard as I can and not just be depending on the guarantee, it’s only good if they freight slow and they can’t provide the miles. -
Coke & Walmart seem like a consistent work and not slow, at least I’d like to believe so.
-
Those are safe bets.
I never had a bad experience delivering to a Wally DC.
