I have seen several references to this suspension on different forums but I can’t remember more than one where someone actually had it. I have a truck on rubber block walking beam and was thinking about converting to air over walking beam. Best I can tell just the parts are going to be around 10000. We can do it in our shop but just not sure it’s worth the money. Does anyone have firsthand experience with this type of setup?

I’ve been curious about ar2 also. I have a w900 daycab with RTE walking beam pulling long dump and short dump. Called a few places on the web and thought it wasn’t quite $10000 but definitely $6000 or better IF you have good rubber center bushed beams already. Need transverse torque rods, some rt/rte have them some don’t. I think your rubber block already has them? I saw a complete raydan air link cutoff on a Michigan parts site for $2500 I shoulda bought but the measurements they had advertised didn’t look right

@Oxbow weren't you looking into this at one time?

I have yet to find a used one in anything other than a complete useable truck. Yes you have to have transverse torque arms and most if not all walking beams with rubber center bushings have them especially heavy ones like I have so that’s not a problem for me. When did you get quotes as things seem to still be going up? I have a 74 w900 on rte and never thought it was too bad but this l9000 on rubber block is wicked with an empty short aluminum dump. Loaded to 44-48k on the drives pulling my 53’ lowboy is a nice ride though and I really like to be able to get around off road.Oxbow Thanks this.

Yes. I had to go through Hendrickson to get specifications, and then got a quote from Fleetpride. This was several years ago, and it was going to be near $8000, plus we would have to weld mounts for lateral track rods on the rears.
The appeal to me versus just buying a cutoff was that we could keep our 2 speed rears, as well as the substantial advantage on uneven ground with suspension travel. I haven't given up the idea, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.W923 Thanks this. -
You may know some of this but I called a Hendrickson rep and I think no matter what you order, it’s made at Hendrickson as soon as you buy it and it’ll take a couple months to arrive. Stengel brothers is another one I’ve talked to. There’s “frame line kits” and “trailing arm kits”. I do not know which has just the suspension hangers etc because like you I do not need beams or torque rods/mounts. Yea it’s easier to splice something in but I’d hate to chop up this mostly rust free truck

yea I feel like the ar2, on a semi tractor pulling a dump trailer, would really ride well going through bullsh** potholes and sharp bumps associated with dump trailer work
