And a blown steer tire thanks to whatever debris on the road punctured it. Heard a loud boom that about gave me a heart attack. Luckily, it wasn't a true steer tire blow out and I was able to stop before it tore much up. The hood won't open now for some reason though, so I have no idea if it's just a tire or if anything else got tore up.

I swear I'm cursed. Just getting buzzed by every drunk driver and Amazon Prime degenerate with no option to even roll to the next exit.

People just assume I'm here taking a leak and scrolling tiktok since that's what half of the drivers think the shoulder is for, but that's a whole other rant

Steer tire replaced and good to go. Only damage found was a cracked splash guard from whatever punctured it getting kicked up. I say I'm cursed, but if that piece of debris never hit the splash guard, I would've never known and kept rolling until it was a true blow out. I reckon I'm luckier than I thought I was at 1am lol

Was able to reach behind the splash guard and manually undo the hood latch. Works fine now -- I reckon the bind of the truck having a flat steer caught the cable up somehow

I sometimes had problems with those hood latches whenever I wasn't parked on level ground. Couldn't even get the hood open in my own driveway at home sometimes without pulling part way out on to the street. Had one of the cables pop out one time too. So yea it was just probably in a bind where you were sitting. Glad it wasn't a major blow out for ya. I've, knock on a big chunk of wood, never had that happen. I've heard that it's a real bear to handle when one goes though.

I like that truck stop too! I like any hidden gem that always has lots of parking. They ended up telling me to run all the way to Pageland. They told me to swing by the yard to check with the shop and safety. I ended up getting a service for the truck and APU. The trailer was getting a DOT Inspection. I think I barely missed ya yesterday. Travis said he'd split the miles since I'll get there tonight. Maybe I'll get the whole 1750. Lol. I'll get started this evening at about 5. I'm anticipating reloading in Arden. How dud you make it towards McDonough?

The thing I like about St. James is that as long as you get there that day, it cam be dropped. I wish Moberly was a drop.

That 68 across Maryland is a pain for real. I'm not sure if you save much in the long haul running 68 versus running 70 in PA. Over the years, I've broke down more than once on 68. I remember a mechanic telling me trucks break down with regularity on that hill, and I believe it too.

You traveled on the residue of Bryan at that Ottawa Love's. I had stopped there last week before delivering in Lawrence. I wonder if there was a power outage that day.

The shop is my favorite thing about this company. I liken it to the pit stop in Nascar. You roll in there and they're on top of it. That shop is a well oiled machine.

Wholly hell man, that's a tough break there. I'm glad it didn't do any major damage. I've blown a steer a couple of times and that's scary as hell. I blew one years back on 49 just north of that stop..i think that town is Alma. I blew it going down hill. Scared the hell out if me. I just recently had to get the hood latch fixed. The cable was all the way gone. The had to use a crow bar to pry it open.

I learned how to try to handle running I-68 back in the dead of winter in the late 90's with an empty skateboard. It wasn't any fun!!!
