Not true and frankly a gas or diesel is going to struggle in the -35 as well. There things you can do on Evs to mitigate the cold just like on a gas engine.

Completely rural yeah not going to find one but on main roads they are everywhere. You just are not seeing them as they are not quite as obvious as a gas station. In fact quite a few are at gas stations.

In fact if curious there is an app called plug share you can download which will show you some of them (vast majority but not all)

I had an LS powered Chevy. Never plugged in at -35 and it'd fire up on the 3rd revolution every time.

Nope. I can drive Alberta to BC on the main highway, lucky to see enough charging stations to count on 1 hand.

it's close to your specs...... R1T - Rivian
Some folks are looking to produce trailer mounted range extender battery packs.

Down this way most Walmarts have chargers.
I would expect the priority locations to be urban areas and crossroads.
I charge mine at home, got a little low for comfort one time and just popped by the dealer for a boost while chatting with the parts guy.

Got mine in December. We were below freezing for most of 2 months. Yes it does affect range was seeing 210 miles or so at full charge in the morning. Now that is about 240 miles.

Wife can turn on the climate control from her phone to preheat or cool the car if it is plugged in. I paid a bit extra for the factory heat pump setup which is more efficient. Heated seats and steering wheel helps a bunch on the comfort side. Immediate heat where it's needed.

Batteries will charge just fine in the cold. Key is to recharge them as soon as you stop driving. Part of the heat pump option is a battery preheat powered from the grid for when it is cold out.

I do not think that EVs are a good match up for you and your requirements at this time. Will one evolve to meet your needs, I can see that happening.

Unfortunately we live in times where government and activists are spreading bad information. I will say what they refuse to:

At this time, EVS may not be a viable choice for large groups of population

At this time, EVs may not be viable for rural people because of lack of infrastructure.

At this time, EVs may not be viable for High density urban dwellers if they do not own/lease parking space or cannot install a charger at their parking space.

About the only people that have reasonable probability of success with EVs at this time are suburban and close-in rural with shorter range requirements.

Some local delivery fleets may also find success, Fed-ex is rolling out a fleet of electric delivery trucks in Los Angeles.

That's my main gripe about EVs. The people that are gung ho for them probably rarely leave their neighbourhood and think everyone else in the country is the same way. Not all of us live a 2 minute walk away from the essentials.

No, but any EV will give an easy 100 mile range in any weather. With a home charging station that would be pretty neat.

And for the record, let's go Brandon. I think a lot of folks are anti-EV just because of the folks pushing them.

Folks have to plan where to charge in advance, instead of just waiting for the 'E' to appear on their fuel gauge and finding the closest gas station.

That's the flavor of my issues with most of the elitists edicts.

What they are overly dramatic about is not typically a concern of mine.
