    You can be rather $ucce$$ful with such a roofing business, if:

    • You are (or can become) a reasonably good closer;
    • You have a steady, continuous schedule of face-to-face appointments with pre-qualified prospects;
    • Your company puts out a good quality product and/or service -- with the reputation to match.
    With all that said -- who sets up the appointments and pre-qualifies the prospects -- you, or someone else?

    No, because it's not multi level marketing. MLM is where you have to recruit others to your team in order to get a portion of their fees to sign up (roofing companies don't charge you any money to work for them). Nor do you make any money from recruiting and even if you do recruit someone they get the full commission from their sales. You don't get a portion of other people's commissions. Now maybe something might get negotiated like if someone is struggling to close a deal and you're able to help them get the close then I suppose you could ask for a percentage of their commission for your efforts or you could just help out a fellow team mate which is what most people do. Sales isn't all MLM. That real estate agent who helped you buy your house got paid a commission from the sale and didn't try to recruit you to. Why would they? If anything you'd just be more competition for them lol. Just like the insurance agent who got a commission selling you your policy or the salesman who got a commission when you bought your car. None of those people wanted to recruit you just to be another competitor cutting into their market. I don't want more people to compete with either. That's why I have no desire to recruit any of you. I'd prefer you guys just keep on trucking and bringing us our supplies. Kind of hard to do these roofing jobs if that truck load of shingles doesn't come in.

    They do provide leads but to be honest their leads kind of suck and if you do get a lead from them you should work that lead then say hi to their neighbors too while you're in the neighborhood. You definitely should be trying to self generate leads if you want to be successful.

    I haven't considered law. I don't really think I'm in a position to go back to school.

    In fact trucking has become more MLM'sh than roofing sales. $500 referral bonus!

    Nine Energy doing cementing. Pay is $20hr paid every 2 weeks with every hour after 80 hours for the 2 week pay period paid at $30hr. You have the choice between 6 days on and 3 days off or 14 days on and 6 days off. While on hitch you stay in a hotel and are on call. How many hours you get depends on how many jobs they have going out and how many other bulk hands are on the board. You're on call 24/7 while on hitch. That call can come in the afternoon or you could get woken up out of bed at 1am. Once you get the call that can come at any time day or night you have 1 hour to get to the yard. Depending on how busy they are you might be sitting in the hotel for a couple of days waiting for a job or you might catch back to back jobs and not see that bed for a couple of days. They might call you out in the early morning for a job that lasts until late afternoon then by the time you get something to eat, get showered and lay down in the bed your phone is blowing up again. After working all day you get about 1 hour of sleep in before they're waking you up to come in foe another job. So basically there's no such thing as anything resembling any kind of sleep schedule. You'll work both days and nights and just try to catch a nap when you can. You could be heading back to the hotel after a 20hr job happy for the shower and some sleep only for your phone to ring for you to bust a U turn or like I said you may end up sitting in that hotel for days waiting for that call that can come at absolutely any moment. How many hours you're able to get varies on the amount of work available. You'll get some $4,000 paychecks and sometimes you'll get $1,200 paychecks for the 2 week pay period.

    Man that sounds pretty brutal for only decent pay.
    You have had so many gigs in the Permian , I feel like you know it better than anyone here.
    Seems like you have had better jobs there than this one though.
    I can do about 18hrs but then I am dead on my feet
    Really really appreciate the update
