Well looks like the first of many Chicagoland carriers threw in the towel today. A guy on TikTok drove for a company called DJI and said he was dispatched to the yard to get new tires but surprise…..it was to turn in the truck because they were closing the doors.
Looks like they had 70 drivers and your typical Chicagoland operation and equipment.

I don’t know what everyone else is seeing but the August slow down in the reefer world is in full affect. Compound that with the never ending diesel price increases it’s going to be the end to some of the carriers hanging on by a thread.Dave_in_AZ, Beaver9, Midwest Trucker and 7 others Thank this. -
I have the coyote go app. Even though I rarely do any coyote loads, I like looking at available loads on the app. I’ve noticed a lot less loads, low rates, and they get taken off. I know a lot of the foreign trucking companies prefer the click and ship because they don’t have to talk to somebody and their English is not great, so it’s an easy thing to do. I see things going very bad for them booking on apps where their competitors are competing that narrow margin. Kind of like being leased onto Landstar or Schneider where are you pretty much just use their load board and agents instead of using every single broker in the country. Less options could mess add n more deadhead and lower rates.

Beaver9, Midwest Trucker and fordconvert Thank this. -
i am so frustrated as a dispatcher!!!! i can not find $2 mile or more paying loads. All these stupid MD cdl licences aholes taking loads for 1.13/1.43/1.70 lining the pockets of the brokers who don't have the maintenance expesnes on the tractors or tires or trailers! WHY ARE THE STUPID TRUCKERS TAKING THESE LOADS! YOU HAVE TO MAKE $2/MILE TO STAY IN BUSINESS! ARHGHHHH!

Maybe you need $2.00 a mile to stay in business, but others might have lower operating costs.
Last month my average was $1.78 per mile to the truck, but I’m on a mileage contract. On a productive week I can still net $3700.
