The arguement that you steer clear of dangerous places is BS. Alot of crime happens in good places. If you are gonna rob somebody .... where would you do it? The ghetto or a decent neighborhood? Let's break this down. The ghetto is going to have more cops around, lower class of people, therefore a lower take. Now, you goto a decent place. No cops, because cops don't patrol the nice neighborhoods as much. A higher class of person, one who is less likely to resist and is prolly going to have more of whatever to donate to your cause. You act like bad things don't happen to good people. Like all crime happens in the ghetto. I will take paranoid and prepared anyday vs. ignorant and foolish. Your version of prepared is your knife. Your knife makes you feel comfortable. Yet, you say you stay clear of the situations that would warrant such a tool. So, why the need then? Are you paranoid? To each his own. If your knife makes you sleep better at night, more power to ya. I don't see the difference. A knife....a gun....in the end.....the outcome is the same. So what makes you so different. To answer your unanswered question, no...a simple pocket knife is not legal everywhere. In chicago and most of the suburbs there ALL pocket knives are illegal. Even a swiss army knife. So carry your pocket knife mr. high and mighty and you are just as illegal as the rest.
YungTrucker and outerspacehillbilly Thank this. -

I hollered "Don't look Ethel" ...too late she'd already seen his big rig.dollylama, gb2nyc, danelady and 1 other person Thank this. -
Dangerous places: Hmmm... Anywhere in the immediate vicinity of a rabid dog or a PO'd woman. Don't mess with Nana!
Pocket knife: Whaz that? I carry a culinary preperatory unit. Don't make me jullienne your sorry a.$.$! Chicago? We mostly don't do downtown anyway.
Actually, the one category of crime that is seriously on the rise that does affect truckers is cargo theft. You'd be well advised to pay attention to that one. In my case, the company's security folks have already defined what's off limits - not my decision.YungTrucker Thanks this. -
If somebody could steal my cargo.....more power to them. I can honestly say, that doesn't effect me.
A knife is a knife around the chicago land region. You don't have to be in chicago for that to effect you. For instance, I almost got taken in when I was in Orland Park. Which is a pretty nice suburb. They seen the knife in my pocket and come over to me. Told me to put it back in my car because knives are illegal to carry in that town and then they told me that was a pretty safe assumption in the chicagoland area. Not bad guys, but that was when I first learned of it.YungTrucker Thanks this. -
Fortunately we both come from Colorado where logic prevails...

I live just north of denver in Fort Lupton.
Things are changing here....fast. It might not always be this way. With all of the influx of Kalifornians, things have been changing rapidly here.YungTrucker Thanks this. -
Dang, that must have been you that I saw the other day, thanks
YungTrucker Thanks this. -
I've never been robbed, have heard the random story however.
Most tend to give me a wide berth, not because of my size(6-1 about 220), but because my attire seems to give people the wrong impression.
One guy saw me in this little hole in the wall truck stop off hwy 231 in AL and he told me, "you look like one of these militia types".
All because I wear combats and the Ministry shirt I had on said "Double the Anarchy Double the Fun"
YungTrucker Thanks this.
