So I strained or pulled a muscle or something most likely from these high freightliner steps, my body use to the lower kw steps. I'm not exactly sure how or when it happened and unfortunately I just keep working. But heading home probably have doc look at leg.
? Is how difficult would this be to claim comp on, and obviously would need a lawyer?
Not that I really want to go the comp route but I can't afford time off but I really can't work much either so what would you all do?

Seems like a pulled muscle. Takes a few days to get over it. Nothing serious.
Dennixx, cuzzin it, Bean Jr. and 1 other person Thank this. -
My opinion, use the workers comp. if you have it available. It's there for situations like this. I would let your company know ASAP so that way the paper trail has commenced. Don't let an injury go unreported. So many people are worried or scared about their jobs because of an OJI. You cannot be terminated in retaliation for filing a workers comp claim.
I've had one workers comp claim in my life whilst I was in my first career as a mechanic for Chrysler. I reported the injury, did my drug screen, saw the company doc and then my doc. It actually went really smooth but that's because of the company I worked for 20 years ago.
Again, these are my personal options and feeling. Do what is best for your health and your family. Take care of yourself so this injury doesn't stop you from future employment and earning a living. -
No not worried about getting fired just more worried about the process, I've been just relaxing in the truck last few days cause of this and well dispatch knows whats up so will probably move forward tomorrow with itthxsChinatown Thanks this.

always report injuries ASAP
if they get better after a short time, no big deal, if not, the paper trail has been generated for the whole w/comp process.
it's no big deal and you can go to your own doctor, legally. don't let them b/s you on that.
been there.gentleroger, tscottme and GoneButNotForgotten Thank this. -
Comp pays half of unemployment which pays half of employment.
I don't know anyone that can survive on 25% pay.
Ice pads. Heating pads. There are sprays like bio freeze and icy hot and something else I can't remember the name but supposed to be really good for muscle pains. -
Do not go the lawyer route.
If you make a lawsuit out of it you will probably never work in this industry again. -
Yeah not much of home remedy been helping, 25 percent better than nothing

When the insurance company asks the doc about the injury and they see it is a simple strained muscle, they will reject the claim and they will fight it as frivolous. Go to an urgent care or walk in clinic if it is bad where you can barely move, pay out of pocket and they will tell you the same thing that is posted here, heat and cold alternating, icy hot and ibuprofen.
tscottme Thanks this. -
I broke my ankle once driving a 10-wheeler (the welded step broke while I was exiting the cab, and I fell to the ground). I was in an ankle restraint for a month, and used crutches for 2 months. X-rays showed a definite broken bone, yet the insurance carrier for the company challenged it in disability court (here in NY, WC cases have a separate court). So, I organized all my medical records, and went to the hearing. Both the insurance company AND the temp agency I had been working for had attorneys, but I represented myself. I think the judge looked on me favorably, and he stopped the insurance attorney a couple times for making unfounded accusations. In the end, my disability was declared valid, and I didn't have to pay one red cent to any steenkin' lawyers...
