We can only hope that is the case. I actually fear rates have not hit low enough to kill them off. I had a pretty decent week doing stuff I normally don't touch to see how everyone else is doing. I was surprised how easy it was to get a few decent paying dry van loads this week. Even jumped to a different broker to see how they were doing. It paid 3.33 a mile and hit my min $1500 a day limit. So I am gonna guess plenty of people are still doing just fine!

I was never one of them. And things are tight now. Prefer to stay home than kill my truck for nothing.

Probably the safest place to be if it all falls apart.

I am still blown away, disappointed, kinda shocked, oddly intrigued, mostly irritated by this.

I feel like that should have made some news somewhere on a much larger scale.

But then again we all know our news cares more about 5 rich guys than 700 poor ones.

Anyone who has an issue with TQL or 3PLs across the board are sure to be terrible business partners to begin with. Looking at the process of a freight load:
*Shipper = commodity to ship
*Broker = ample number of possible MC's
*MC's = (majority) no broker authorization and need loads
Ex:
Broker retains a wholesale company who needs to move palletized sand bags at or around 15 pallets per load appx. 45k lbs. Per load
Shipper is willing to pay $1900 for in state drops to distributors
3PL brokers avg 10% to 25% of profit margin of clean delivery loads.
MC's across the US avg. 2.76 to 3.14 +/- per loaded mile
**Broker needs to book MC to Pick 14 pallets of sand bags in AZ and haul 276 miles for drop

Customer is paying $1900 according to DAT rates (05/30/23) Market rate low $701 high $841

The Brokers goal is to get the lowest rate possible in order to make money. Just as a driver wants to make money.
If an MC covered this load at the lowest that is $2.54/mi... Well within the market national average.
However 99% of possible MC's bid an astronomical amount for the load like $1600 or $5.80/mi
This is absolutely the case for an overwhelmingly amount of time and the amount of disrespect drivers and dispatchers give brokers at 3PLs is insane. If a dispatcher (O/O) thinks their driver(s) are worth $5.80/mi then they need to get licensed and certified for broker authority and retain their own customers and dedicate routes.
